Boise State vs. Virginia Tech

I'm sure you heard Brent Musburger sounding surprised that the pass interference was a no-call. Clearly it was a controversial call.

If you mean him being surprised by saying, "The line judge not reaching for the yellow." Kirk basically explains that he had his head turned around and therefore has every right to the ball. The VT player just straight up dropped it, the ball was in his hands.

As an Ohio State fan, I can not figure out why you are arguing so strongly in favor of Boise State. You run the risk of being knocked out of the National Championship if BSU runs the table; if you want to make the championship, you should be downplaying their achievements.

I, on the other hand, am completely neutral to this game. I'm just stating the facts. Boise State may have gotten lucky in the sense that they got multiple controversial calls ruled in their favor.

If BSU runs the table and OSU runs the table there is no way that BSU would be picked before us. They just don't have as strong as schedule and not to mention they are ranked below us, so I'm not worried.

i definitely called the end of that one with 5 min to go, i think that's how every close game we've been in has endedin the last 10 years... anyways i'll go ahead and say at least it was a good game, i thought it would end much more worse after the first quarter, but ended up at least being watchable. hell, i even thought my hokies might pull it out an win it, but then i remembered who our coaches were.

going into the game i expected our offense to run all over boise state, and i will say i'm impressed with how their defense played and my expectations were that bsu didn't play defense and just threw up points on the scoreboard. props to boise for actually playing D this game and proving me wrong.

the worst thing about the loss is now i'll have to hear about how boise state deserves to be in the national championship allllll year long when i still think they're way overrated. i don't think in this game they showed they were the best in the country or deserving of a national championship bid. All Season Long, the commentators will talk about how they'll be screwed out of the championship. It's tired. They needed to dominate that game for that discussion.

a win's a win, so congrats boise. and yes, i'm mad.

I take it you don't read much poll analysis?

If Ohio State goes undefeated but doesn't win all their games in stunning fashion, many analysts think Boise State will jump them.

Truthfully the BCS is just out for the money and will pick the team that will make them the most. A "underdog" story like BSU will probably make more money for the BCS rather then OSU.

Thats What I think

But I understand your reasoning. I just really like underdogs. Like I said though, I don't see them hopping over OSU if both go undefeated.

you also have to think OSU fans will travel whether they're in a runner up bowl or the championship, boise fans will be more likely to travel for the championship; ultimately more money for the BCS, so i agree with you here

Right now the nuts are on the line for Boise State, last year in the WAC, after 2 fiesta bowl wins and a couple undefeated seasons. Now we have this win against VT and the polls are in our favor. But all it takes is one mistake...

yeah but the difference is that boise has a very high chance of going undefeated.

Ohio State has a much tougher schedule. while its possible ohio state could go undefeated its not super likely. and this year with boise starting #3 in the preseason poll they could easily jump ahead of ohio state if the buckeye lose one or two games.

that said i could still see a 1 loss ohio state getting into the NCG over boise under the right circumstances.

i only wish they had kept this game in october, would have been more of a buildup to it, plus it would have given the young VT defense a chance to get some experience playing together first. not trying to make excuses for them, but i just think VT has hurt themselves the last few years scheduling their hardest games at the beginning of the season

Oh for sure, if OSU loses a game we're not the National Championship. That's my point though, OSU has a way tougher schedule so if we DO run it it will be much more impressive than BSU running their's. Needless to say, I think Bama is going to lose sometime during their season, so....

well depending on what happens in the SEC/BIG 12/Pac 10 even and with boise OSU could still get to the NCG with 1 loss. if its a real shit show maybe even 2 but probably not.

Next week will be an interesting week for #1 and #2. Osu v Miami(which i'm going to!), and penn state v bama. As a Student of The Ohio State university I am confident they will win the title game. Sorry Boise, sucks to not be a bcs school.

you are way too far on the defensive side of this argument

i dont hate bsu or anything about it, fans are kind of annoying

its more of me just not giving a fuck, im not a competitive person at all so natually i fucking hate sports and if you play a sport and like it thats sick and im happy for you but watching sports for me is fucking boring and i dont really care who wins at all because it will in no way affect mine or other people watching lives, the players the coaches get stoked if they win yeah, but people watching should care less

i know literally probably no one shares this fucked up mentality with me because people obviously watch sports but that is how i think about it

also there are no football parties where 16 year olds get together eat drink alcohol and watch the game, some people go to games and watch them to get drunk and socialize which i can respect, even tho i dont drink, haha

second of all i was doing a shit load of homework which i am still writing my 3rd essay right now

Woah, what?

WAC > MWC ????

No way...but I do agree they won't be in the National Championship unless they run their schedule and at least OSU or Bama (if not both ) lose.

The WAC is a cakewalk. Boise State doesn't have a single difficult team in their conference schedule. If they were in the MWC this year they'd probably have to deal with TCU or Utah or both.

How are they downgrading? Theyre bringing the only 2 teams from the wac that are worth anything, anyway... And Hawaii doesnt count, because they are useless as hell now without June Jones

I guarantee that everyone on BSU's team wishes they were in the MW conference or any other conference than the fucking WAC, but they can't do shit about it until next year...so they just gotta the table and see were it takes them....People get so strung out on BSU its funny....

WAC seems much more well known, i dunno with utah going to pac 10(12) and byu going independent the only hard team for boise will be tcu, who will probably end up moving too. Some teams in the MWC are so shitty and i feel like the WAC has more mediocre teams vs shitty teams

I don't care one way or the other if people are stoked on football or BSU. That's great, they can be stoked on whatever they want. The thing that I don't like is having to listen to play-by-play recaps of something that I don't care about for days afterwards.

I don't want the football to go away and I don't want all the fans to go away, just the annoying ones.

And on a side note, I'm not a fan of all the drunk driving that comes as a result of these big games
