Boise ID

anyone live up there? im going to school at state come fall. i've heard their freestyle terrain sucks at bogus basin and they don't allow inverts. is that true? and if im going to work at a resort up there am i better off working there or traveling a couple hours to a better resort (if there is one)

schweitzer? i'm not quite sure how far away that is, but i hear only good things about it.

schweitzer is waaay north of boise, like near washington, almost canada.

tamarack and even sun valley are closer.

word. sun valley has a sick looking park from pictures/video ive seen. when i move up to oregon, i might have to take a trip out there.

I used to live in Sun Valley, super sick mountain and their park is getting way better. Big things happening there

Im from Sun Valley. They used to have the biggest JEWS managing the resort, but things have gotten A LOT better in the last 2 years thanks to Wally Huffman (KING JEW) being promoted in the Sinclair company, thus leaving his management position in Sun Valley :)
If you're just trying to ride park, you can get a fairly cheap season pass at Dollar mountain, which is where Sun Valley's park is (except the halfpipe). Find someone up there who will let you pass out on their couch for the weekends and the 2 1/2 drive will be worth it.

yeah dude i live in boise and the bogus park really sucks ass but is still pretty fun. brundage is two hours away and is really dope for pow and cliffs and shit, and sun valley is about two hours away also and their park is really dope!(dollar mountain) passes only 300

Yeah im from boise. brundage is where its at for the powder. and sun valley is great for park. but bogus is nice because it is close and convenient.

its still bad, dont get me wrong. two little jumps, and rails setup with very little lips. their park has improved though. so hopefully they will keep stepping it up

which is great for night skiing

but if you have a whole weekend to ski, id rather drive a couple hours for great skiing than ski there.

they dont allow them. but only ski patrol cares. the park guys dont care. usually they just say dont do it again.

and no not many comps. tamarack was the place for comps. but its no longer with us

I grew up at bogus and I got my pass pulled for making switch carve marks. Ski patrol said if your gonna ski backwards I needed to find somewhere else to do it. FUCK BOGUS BASIN. Go brundage. Way doper. Way deeper. Waaaayy more chill. Its worth the drive.

Bogus has a pretty crappy park setup, yeah.. but from what i hear, they're going to step it up next year. What that means? Who knows... but either way, its a decent mountain with some pretty good steep shots, good trees, and decent snow - least it was when i was out there. Plus its 30 minutes away from town, so you cant complain too terribly.

Brundage and Sun Valley are legit though. Brundage is sick, and gets great snow... and Sun Valley, though I actually have never skied there, seems like a pretty awesome place, and isnt TOO far from town.

Also, Boise isnt all too far from Hood, Tahoe, or SLC if you ever want to make trips during the wintertime... so its not a bad spot by any means.

I ski bogus. you can ski switch as long as you dont get too close to people. it all depends on who yells at you. I remember this time we got a little lecture from some ski patrol about going too fast, but he was pretty mellow about it. Bogus is nice because its close by, but if you want serious park skiing you should go somewhere else.

Well im not a super good park skier so its not like i need 80 foot step ups to throw some ridiculous double corked 10. All I need is some decent sized jumps and POW to progress you. know?

Yeah i think i get what youre saying. Im not the greatest either, but Bogus does have get some nice pow days every once in a while. The park, i definitely can't say how good/bad it is. So it would depend on your definition of "decent sized jumps"

heres a video of moxham shredding bogus, hope it gives you an idea

ITT there are more skiers that ski bogus than total skiers at my hometown resort.

im not that great either, i've skied p much my whole life but didn't start park (seriously) till this last season. 5's and im working on getting a misty 5 next pow day, landed them on a pad but still not completely comfortable with them.
i dont do anything fancy as far as jibs, no 270's on although i have 270'd off.
so it would be great to go skiing with some of you guys, you could probably push me pretty good since where i live is almost entirely snowboarders thats who i usually ride with.
