Bodyboarding

Bodyboarding isnt just for kids at the beach, IMO its better than surfing, more airs and better tricks and we charge harder in gnarlier waves, which surers wont do. Heres some sick vis to prove my point.

Cyclops

Cyclops is the heaviest wave in OZ! Once the lip hits the water, it explodes like TNT ! It is pretty much only a bodyboarding wave, although surfers can tow in, but it is risky, but has been done before in billabong odyssey. Surfers have can't wear a leash because if they wipe out they will get dragged across the reef and will be in big trouble. If you wipe out here it is extremely dangerous. The reef is super shallow! It looks like it will be a 3-4 foot wave, and jacks up to 10 feet. There is no hospital for a 2 hr boat trip then 5 hr car drive. Also massive 8 metre+ great white sharks are in these deep waters and many lives have been lost in shark attacks off the australian coast. If you get cut up out here you are extremely lucky to not attract sharks.

Crazy wave. Cyclops isn't for the faint hearted! It is featured in movement magazine, there you can see it's fury, even breaking Jackos back! If you are game enough to try to find this break to surf it, good luck ey!!

Cyclops is the most hyped least surfed wave in the world. It's extremely heavy with massive amounts of water unloading on shallow reef. Cyclops is definitely Australia's heaviest wave to date.

You have to take a day trip from Esperance, and get out there by boat. Esperance is 7 hours drive from Perth. So, to get out there is a trek from mainland, so you will have to take a boat, but anyway, you probably won't find it.

To surf this wave you just need real big balls and to be crazy.

Surfers start the hatin and anyone else watch the videos and start bodyboarding!

I don't know about saying one is better than the other, cause I do both and I love both, but I've had some sick days and memories body boarding. If the waves pick up in the next few days here in Jersey I'll finally be back out. It's been too long since I last dropped late, got thrown over the falls, and got smashed.

yeah dude bodyboarding is this shit, i need new fins though mine are too small =[. hopefully these shitty east coast waves will pick up, but i havent checked any forcasts/swell maps in a whiiilee.

supposed to be building tonight, and into tomorrow and monday too. should be sweet if it's not chopped up by the storms. not big, but fun, and better than nothing

i bodyboard and surf a lil. but the argument you are trying to make is false. i love them both and prolly bodyboarding more because im better at it i almost got el rollos and other shit down last summer but there were no solid swells in the north east other than 2 or 3 days where it got 4-6ft. but surfing is just so intense people are throwing rodeos and flips now and as well as surfing 75+ ft waves at places people never knew about. surfing is way more nuts watch this

i do that and i also don't use boards bodysurf- its the shiiiiiiiznit one time i got a wave that took my shorts off at a public beach.. haha

gnarlier waves??

what about jaws, teahupoo, cloud break, mavericks...just to name a few

the only thing spongers hit that surfers don't would be shore break, and those are just fucking stupid. but I still kind of like body boarding

whoaa when you drop in and like the wave is moving too fast so you just like fall straigh into the barrel it looks like your breaking your neck

Did you not watch the cyclops video i posted? Surfers have never, or will never paddle into that, bodyboarders will. And i can surf to, i just prefer bodyboarding, its the same as the snowboarding skiing argument, you guys chose skiing and think snowboarders are gay and vice versa for the snowboarders. Surfing is sort of like snowboarding in a way that its bigger and more widespread whereas bodyboarding is more like newschool skiing where it is more underground and not as widespread
