I got a limited budget, what type of pads should I get first and foremost?

and if you think pads are gay just keep ur comments to yourself

get the upper body (torso + shoulder) protection kind like the ones they use in motorcross. Could be the extra protection you need especially if you tree ski alot.

you do not need any of that shit, its just bulk and its stupid. if anything get the spine protector, but even thats a bitch to wear. I got wrist guards built into my gloves (burton) and I have a nice helmet. even thats alot of protection. unless your in skiercross you don't need anything like that.

sacrifice, to some its just a word, to others it is a code, what matters is the colony, he is willing to live for the colony, fight for the colony, die for the colony.

if you have a limited budget why the hell would you buy pads? raise your hand if you are a jibber and wear pads....*silence* If you are a big mountain skier, go for a back protector thing, or get the DH biking Dainesse suit, but pads are expensive no matter what.

Or you could just stick a bunch of socks into your pockets.

'Shit? I don't shit...I throw up out of my anus.''

if you want padding you should take up zorbing. its one big padded ball. can't get much safer than that. or go with the back thing.

just wear a rashguard, they keep you warm, keep harmful uv rays off you, and i have never been hurt wearing one. they make you bombproof. plus they are tight and show off your muscles, the chicks love em. I have some Reef, Hurley, Rip Curl, Billabong, and Quiksilver ones, they are cheap and about every company makes them.

on skiershop.com they have like this butt pad thing but is that worth it? I mean like i doubt id get anything like that bc it would be way to restrictive but does anyone actually use those?

what the hell? all you need is a cup for your nads like baseball players use.. i was racing one time and i fell and the ski popped off and the binding hit my nads so hard. thats all you need

a friend of mine has the ass padding shorts. he like them a lot, and doesn't even notice them when he skis, at least according to him. he says they help a lot when you do hit your ass. $50 seems a lot for just ass pads though.

Alright let's settle this. Everybody wants to ski as many days as possible and be on the top of their game all the time. Keeping this in mind. Why would you not take precautions to protect yourself. All the local pros at my hill wear them. Greg Tuffelmire, Joe Vallone, Nick Mercon, Collin Otte all have been known to wear protective shorts. And as far as pads adding extra bulk is bullshit because we are all wearing baggy clothes anymore so nobody can tell if you are wearing them and you can't either. In the past I wore some xtra small hockey goalie pads I bought for $20 at a play it a gain sports shop. I just cut them to pieces and kept what I needed on them. This is really bulky though and not the most efficient. I've worn friends shorts as well but none were all that great. This year I got skeletools pads and they are the best. You can take pads out you don't want or need and rearrange them. They are really unnoticeable and very comfortable. They also have upperbody pads. These pads are by far the best but do cost a little more. Check them out at www.skeletools.com Get the large because the tail bone pad has a thin plastic cover over the padding that the medium does not have.

I have a pair of Skeletools too. I took out the thigh pads (nobody is going to tackle me, right?) and trimmed the pads that run over your hip flexors so I can lift my leg up easier.

I wear them every day I ski and never notice them now that I've made those mods.

i have a pair of forearm guards that I wear to bike and i am thinking of using those this winter. I dont know about bulk or restrictiveness but they are great for goin over the handlebars so im gonna try em out on snow.

I am not dong the grabs because I am getting a thrill out of touching my ski-JP Auclair
