I recently overshot a table by about 50 feet in the Whistler park, and am pretty lucky to be walking. I landed almost directly on my back. I want to find some good Body Armour with spine protection, any recomendations.

There are some previously discussed topics on this. Go to search. It should be exactly what you are looking for.

turtle-back style spine protecters are super warm, maybe look into a half height one because it would be more mobile. Dainese, Acerbis, and Brexton are a few companies that make em. Also, I think R.E.D. (burton) and Skeletools make soft foam style spine protection, not sure how it works though. check it out. hope that helps.

This is what happened... I hadn't hit the Park in about a year... I go to University and it was my second real day back skiing... I had hit up Whis opening weekend but it was all rails. I'll tell you how to overshoot a table by 50 feet... its not too hard. First you don't bother to take it easy your first day back... and you go pretty much straight to the big jumps, cuz theres not too much time to get back into it. The you don't take the time to get to know the size of each table... they kinda very, and speed and kick is unique to each hit. This is what happened... I hit the hut jump, kinda cased it... got pissed off... tucked into the next one... cleared it by way to much and landed hard at the bottom of the tranny... Then the next hit I thought was way bigger than it was. I didn't think to slow down and i popped it huge... i had balance until i realized i was 30 feet above the start of the tranny and not coming down. I rolled down the windows but to no avail... i landed straight on my back and am lucky to be walking... if i had landed on my feet i woulda broken a leg (according to the doctors).

Body armour wouldn't have really helped much from an impact like that... But armour's great for rails. I think it's definitely progressing the sport because people who wear armour can sometimes bail on a rail then get right back up and try it again without being too afraid, whereas someone without it could be out for a week or 2 due to a stupid bruise or something.

I wouldn't really wear that shit, won't give any significant protection versus the restrictiveness and discomfort it provides.
