Bode Miller's "Mute Grab"

I was watching the Olympics last night and I got sucked into watching the men's downhill (Which was quite entertaining due the crazy course). Nevertheless, midway through Bode Miller's run, he sort of lost his balance in the air and began to lean sideways and reach his hand towards his ski. In the replay the announcer referred to it as "a mute grab without grabbing his ski". I wish I could have found the video, it was surprisingly hard to come by. This wasn't the first time racers have mistaken a mute grab this Olympics. Towards the end of this article http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/olympics/bode-miller-skiing-gold-medal-favorite-article-1.1606720 they state that racer Max Franz of Austria also did a mute grab. Is the world truly this unaware of freestyle skiing?

Do not fret young son. I also saw this and cringed. It just looked like he was hitting a gate midair, or he was in women's snowboard slope.

c'mon cut the guy some slack, hes a downhill announcer. He doesn't need to know anything about freestyle skiing to do a half decent job.

that being said... newsflash: announcers spew whatever BS they please. Thats the way it is and the way it will forever be.

Idk why you would try to justify watching downhill.

My list of favourite events: 1. Downhill/ mens slopestyle

2. Womens downhill

3. Mens Slalom

4. mens pipe

REAL SKIING

You can't help but be amazed at watching downhill. The amount of chatter + constantly going airborne at 80mph is ridiculous. Definitely one of my favorite events.

OP's wack the downhill is always awesome. I watched the whole thing in awe how they edge like they do at 80+ mph, and the jumps were INSANE

you can see their balls from space i heard

bode is a ski boss. 36 years old and still going balls to the walls

his mute grab was straight steeze too

You should YouTube his highlights, I really think he does do some of his falls trough the finish, and one ski while turning tricks on purpose.

I remember when I thought it was cool to hate on racers/racing. Then I pulled my head out of my ass.

Alright lets just make sure we are on the same page here. World class athletes going 80 mph down a sheet ice is sick and takes extreme skill. 17 year old gapers who took up racing for god knows why is the dumbest and most annoying thing on the hill.

World class athletes doing double corks is sick and takes extreme skill. 17 year old fucks who took up park skiing for god knows why is the dumbest and most annoying thing on the hill.

How do you think those athletes became world class racers? because something in them decided they wanted to start ski racing. Sure there are some annoying racers, but there are annoying people in all aspects of life, plus there are plenty of park riders that are annoying.

If you are actually good then yes it is sick but I don't really like to go skiing and get cut in the lift line by a group of 20 people who dont know how to ski

It sounds more like you are just talking about beginners. Unless the race team at your hill is a complete joke, they can all ski as good, probably even better than you.

And from my experiences parks skiers are much more annoying in lift lines.
