I was watching Bode today in Soelden and was thinking if he gave up the racing and trained for it how far do you think he could go in freestyle. It would be cool for him to do what Jon is doing but the other way around. What you think?
 
he would hit big jumps no problem, but what tricks do you think he has? as a very talented skier he would progress quickly, but he's probably never even been on a rail. i would say he should probably stay where he is, because he kills is. but as a newschooler i can't imagine racing all the time and not going into the park (or pow, bc, etc) so i feel like he should try it out. i bet he could rip one crazy line
 
I grew up near Bode and he used to get down on jumps back in the day, doing lincons and backies and shit. Im sure he would slay
 
I skied with him years ago and he surprised the hell out of me when he was flying down a groomer and busted a high speed 3 off a little roll. But air awareness is a whole different game, so really, who knows.
 
this could be good to see. Axel Lund Svindal (multi Olympic and world cup champion) has a part in field productions movie. but thats all in BC i would be cool to see Bode kill it in a park.

I would love to see a comp for the title as the worlds best skier:

3 runs - one GS, one Freeride, one slopestyle.

Jon might win that.
 
he's probably too old to progress in park skiing but those guys that can hold it down on an icy downhill course could be really good at big mtn no doubt. it just depends on how healthy his knees are for dropping cliffs.

henrik windstedt was good back in the day in slope (2. in us open - i think) and he has a racing background - like Junior worlds and the world freeride tour.

Jon won the Scandinavian freeride championship in early 2000s
 
i ski with his Grandfather. and have skied with bode. hes a cool guy and prolly could do what ever he wants on skis.
 
he'd be really good. a lot of the best skiiers, like jon and t hall don't just focus on one or two things, but a bunch of different types of skiing
 
guys a legend im pretty sure if he can finish a gs run with one ski and still place then he can do alot in the park scene
 
No, we're just really really good at not popping. We generally have a good air awareness; mandatory airs are a standard part of SG and DH courses, and to win you have to be damn good at hitting/adjusting/landing PERFECTLY, or you'll blow out. Plenty of racers teach themselves to throw backflips and 3s; we just don't have the time to really progress.
 
are you actually on the dmouth race team? cus if you are then props to you because that means you are damn good. i loved watching the winter carnival and seeing the dartmouth skiers throw down and go balls to the wall
 
This. Billy Kidd was one of the best American racers of his day, and now that he's settled down at Steamboat, every day he shreds big mountain with anyone who can keep up. I think that there is actually a specific time that he waits somewhere to meet up with whoever.

Daron Rahlves made the switch from Apline to Skiercross. Sure, they're related, but he's doing pretty damn good for someone with no prior experience.

Point is, I firmly believe that learning to ski super precisely at high speed makes you a solid overall skier, although this is obviously not the only way to approach the sport/become really good.
 
It's where a lot most of the kids in my age(17-25)started.

I raced and did all that Nancy Green stuff, along with some freeride coaching with Chris Rubens (before he went pro). I did the ski programs till I was about 11. I had my first twins by then (Line 1260). Looking at where I am in skiing now, I am happy that I raced, and took all those programs. They give the kids the best technique. Being 19, and seeing all these younger kids ski, you don't always see it, but you can tell who took the programs.

I don't ski park though, so I have yet to put my childhood racing and skiing techniques I learned into it.
 
Same situation as you; 20 as of Thursday.

I came late to racing-started around 13 or so-but in my first year I probably doubled my skills. I just ordered my first (two) pair(s) of non-used twins this year after having skied a friend's extensively last season; I'm looking forward to not being on 4-year-old beaters. I remember the first twins I saw though, those old Solly 1080s with that retarded robot graphic. Ohh how times have changed.
 
Would be sweet to get some of the Ski cross world cuppers in there too, some of them slay hard in the park.

A few years back there was some footage of Bode doing tricks in the pow, nothing spectacular but there were some pretty big tricks thrown by a racer.
 
^that is possibly the craziest thing i've ever seen done on skis, talk about balance and edge control, holy shit!!!!!

dude. couldnt have put that better. but i havnt seriously raced for like 2 seasons. but racing helped my skiing in general so much bode would slay park
