Bobby Brown off Salomon

$1100 park skis. Kinda lame that he's going as un-core as possible. Solly park team officially rip.

I agree, this company looks like that kind of 'boutique' ski maker that only rich old guys buy. If your 55 and want some cool carbon fiber skis to take tree skiing 6 times a year this is a good fit. Being 19 and taking $1200 skis and sliding them down a piece of metal seems pretty silly.

Holy shit their All Mountain ski is $1800...

yiikes at those park ski prices and ski prices overall.....but it sounds like the perfect skis for rich seattle bros that go to sun valley to ski.

Honestly I fucking doubt it. The little glimpse of their factory makes that shit look brand fucking new. Crazy high tech looking press, brand new Reichmann robot, and signing a triple A skier like Bobby; these dudes aren't making a price point anything in the foreseeable future.

Seems like good marketing to me. No-one knew who these guys were until Bobby signed with them and now everyone is talking about them. People will buy into the hype.

Don't worry, you're not their target market, in fact 99% of skiers aren't.. that 1% tho...

Well I hope he's cashing in. Does that company even sell any volume of skis though? I mean I guess you don't have to sell many at that price.

You actually do tho to turn a profit. Luckily most ski startups like that dont have to.

that IS their price point. This is similar to Stockli, dps, Kastle, hell even black crows. They are going after that demographic. As Bobby gets older he has been skiing more mountain than park and its a perfect transition for him and Salomon with the pending Chinese acquisition he probably left at the correct time.

Everyone gave Apple shit for the $1000 phone but look how many people have them and the other manufacturers are following. Keep in mind that even Line has a $950 ski. Head Kore skis are expensive and even an RTM84 with a system binding will run you $1150. The days of the quality $399 ski is gone. That gets you an entry level cap ski (ie the bdog, honey badger, punx 5, etc...) Even binding manufacturers have increased their prices. Just take the Pivot for instance.

End of the day, their price is in line with their demographic. Those people ski 5 to 10 times a year and will keep that ski for 10 years. ammortize that out and its pretty cheap. Skiers like you guys who want a new ski every year will continue to look for the $399 ski on sale, end of season off Evo...

I mean, it’s Golden boy Bobby Brown we are talking about here... if anyone were to go as “un-core as possible”, it would be him.

Seems like a nice issue of Sell to the rich and live like the masses, or sell to the masses and live like the rich.

Over under of 2.5 years for Croissant Skis to shut doors?

God that is the cringiest ski-related website I've ever come across.

100% guaranteed it's been designed and copy-written by an outsourced marketing team where most employees have probably never even skied before.

Using generic statements and buzz-words like...

'We strive to over deliver in every aspect of our business'

'We relentlessly invent and progress to separate ourselves from the competition'

I can tell this as I used to work in a marketing company and some of our clients were so fucking weird it was unbelievable. My favourite example was an oil-field project management company based in fuckin Saudi Arabia or something.

I bet Bobby wanted to join a legit freeskiing company that knows what he is into and knows where to support him. My guess though is that he wanted some unreal amount of money in a contract, and all the companies said if we had that money to shell out on an athlete, it wouldn’t be you. Bob has a lot of great history and is still a solid skier, but he has fallen off the comp scene and will never progress over the current guys that are running that scene. All he really does these days is lap Breckenridge and do dub 10s into pow while his brother follows him and then they both scream and look like models together. Not surprised he is with some obscure company that no one has heard of... they probably saw how many IG followers he has and jumped at the opportunity to pay him, when in reality they don’t know anything about our sport.

lol good call out, I hadnt looked at the website. Wouldn't be surprised if they lifted the copy from a high-end car ad.

Challenge Everything. Compromise Nothing.

Performance meets Luxury

Despite all that, as he states in his IG post I wonder what BB envisions for his "next chapter of skiing and equipment" and what Salomon couldn't or wouldn't offer him.

Also that is not an advertisement for a park ski. More like a pow/big mtn ski that someone would use to film big BC jumps or enter the FWT

I figured this company seems to have money from elsewhere? Or their stuff is so expensive they can sell a few less pairs or whatever and be fine. But you guys had to basically pay for an entire factory and probably lot of other stuff by selling skis.
