Bobby Brown and his dubs

The question of this thread is: How do you feel about Bobby Brown?
Idk how I feel about the dude. he never has any film segments which i think is kind of lame. he is all about jumps, less about rails... something i also find to be lame. I also don't know how I feel about the fact that he wins every slope style comp because he can do three dubs in one run. I would much rather see someone do a a steezed bio 9 into a sw steezed 1080 tail into a big ol dub. Bobby Brown is amazing at jumping, I will give him that... I just dont know if I like what he brings to the sport.

check out the edit that was just posted of him in M&A. clean front 6, britney, frontside frontside, and switch pretzel. plus some other sick rail stuff.

y'all are quick to judge.

He did have a segment last year (MSP). Its not his fault that judges want to see as many dubs as humanly possible, he is just trying to win. It wouldn't be very smart be throwing "steezed out" bio 9s or sw 10s if you could throw some dubs and get a better score. Blame the judges/judging criteria if anyone/thing.

Are you Stupid? just because Bobby isnt a rail guy guy, doesnt mean he doesnt bring something bad to the sport. He was the first skier to do a triple and he created the Switch double misty. I think he might be bringing something good to the sport.

You shouldnt criticize bobby for winning comps or any other winner of any comp. the judges are the ones who pick the winners, not the skiers.

also, bobby has had two segments in two MSP movies.

end rant

Idk its all about opinion. I am a big fan of style, not spin to win doubles. I am also a big fan of crazy rail tricks in the park and urban. This is why my favorite pros are dudes like hornbeck, harlaut, brogan, and wallisch. bobby brown has such a different way of skiing than those dudes. like you cant even compare the rails in that edit to the shit that hornbeck and wallisch are doing

I like watching bobby ski because he is the least sketchy skier out there. My coach did say that when he was little he was as sketchy as they come

bobby can do whatever the hell he wants and can make it look better than just about anyone else. he just happens to do a lot of dubs in comps. also, has anyone seen his dub 12 blunts? sooooooo clean.

Like it or not...Bobby will most likely push this sport to the next level (as far as making it more mainstream)...and that's a good thing for the industry. I know some of you don't like the idea of mainstream...but it means more money in the industry, which is good for the sport.

different strokes for different folks. that's the beauty of freeskiing growing/getting more "mainstream": there is space for all different types of dudes to push the sport in different ways. vive le difference!
sure, guys like bdog and hornbeck are a lot more progressive than bobby on rails but then bobby is way better at jumps. apples and oranges. and before someone says some nonsense like "yo brogan's cork 7 blunts are so much sicker than bobby's", be reminded that bobby would be able to do an almost exact reproduction of that cork 7 blunt. would brogan be able to replicate bobby's sw misty 14 or dub 12 blunt? i doubt it.

nobody can replicate any other skier's style. they can come close (bobby brown) but there will always be that little tweek or shift that will make it look different

i agreed with this statement. then i watch jon brogan's transfixed edit. i no longer agree with you.

Bobby is awesome... He has some of the cleanest style i have ever seen. A lot of people hate on him just because he doesnt wear xxxxl jiberish.

bobby brown is impressive as fuck at doubles, not as much at regular spins. That edit ^ had no tricks above a seven that weren't dubs. Sure bobby can set a rotation and stick with it, but I am disappointed by his lack of rotation control, spin wise. I find that any kid can learn a simple dub like dub misty 9 on tramp, simply set misty five and tuck around another flip. But to modify the set and rotation to add spins to a trick you can already do is much harder. That is why I find Henrik's bio 14 so gnarly, spinning 4 times without coming back to your feet once is crazy hard. Also the rails in that edit weren't very good, they showed basic edge pressure but no intense skill.

yes... how dare he win competitions and make a living off of skiing because he is able to. who does he think he is?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
He doesn't have any film segments?? Really?? i mean seriously MSP is still one of the biggest filmakers out there. In fact they might have been THE biggest a couple years ago.
Really i would like to aknowledge ur points but really do some research first.
Also, bobby is a technical mastermind. He is amazing at jumps and has trained specifically for competitions. You know this, I know this, and im damn sure bobby knows this.
Im sure if you asked him he wouldn't say he is the steeziest skier out there either. And as for "what he brings to the sport".. he brings medals and podiums. He is a competetion skier. He's damn good at it..
No doubt he knows it too.

Alright theres my random interwebz rant.. it's been a rough day

Bobby's the man, just because he isnt super thug and steezy doesn't mean that hes a bad skier. and as for his "spin to win dubs" theyre all perfectly executed, grabbed well, and he stomps the shit out of them. thats not spin to win. yea bobby!

so all skiers must all do the same shit?

and if you say you can't compare them, then why the fuck are you trying to compare them?

we all saw at X games that rails is not his force but nobody can match his skills at jumping. That being said, Bobby's not doing any urban ... and it's a big part of the sport as much as backcountry, pipe and park stuff. You know why he's not hitting urban ? Because he don't have too ! Let me explain, this guys is winning his live with his sponsors and cash prizes for the comps he always wins. So why would he take the chance to bust his knee or shoulder on a 4-kink for 2 or 3 shots, when he can ride freeway on safe jumps and practice unnat sw dub rod 1080 all day for the next slopestyle.

For those who have seen him ride, Bobby's working really hard. Always at the mountain when the parks open and throws down big dubs everyday all day. Maybe 4 sides dub are not the stylish Wu-Tang Clan 4XL tall tee shit, but you know what? It works prefectly, he understood it and keeps winning the contests.

wow dude, worst logic ever. You're arguing that its harder to add another 180/360 to your spin than another flip. clearly you have terrible jump game because if you could do anything, you would know you're wrong.

what the fuck are you talking about dude ???? Bobby brown has the best air sense and spin control in the game... you're straight up fucking retarded. Its way harder to tuck another FLIP than it is to get another 3 around dude... get learned.

dude if i had the choice id just roll with the c-crew and smoke weed and skii all day and just have fun with the sport not try to just win every comp with some dubs

And I am sure he and his 6 digit bank account really give a shit about your opinion.. He makes a living off comps why would he risk what he has to do urban, Bobby is one of the best faces our sport has to offer and brings more to the sport than you ever will.

and that is why you will never amount to anything.

like it or not, the dubs bring home the bacon. And he is really fucking good at skiing.

and I have to add: what logic suggests that winning comps = not skiing for fun?

It seems like this logic only applies to sick as fuck skiers who don't embody thugs-on-da-hill, e.g. Brown, Rolland, etc, but nobody else.

He's a great comp skier thats all there is to it. another thing is he is pretty young, hasn't really been skiing professionally for very long and has plenty of time to get into other ski areas. During this point in his career he is doing just what he needs to.

I think its funny how people hate skiers with competitive mindsets. People always say they dont like simon or kevin rolland or bobby because they take it too seriously, but if you are a competitive person, winning is fun, and training to win and be the best is fun. I guess I can see how the whining when they dont win would be annoying(i.e. Simon), but if you think you had a better run and you worked your ass off to get to that point, a little frustration is understandable. Just my two cents.

A) beat dead horseB)talk about style mention brogan in same sentence as bobby brownC)..........?Troll for heartfelt answersD)PROFIT?
