Bobby Brown ≤ Skiing Robot

thisssss. i met bobby at breck and he's really chill and down to earth and when he's not competing he's got great style and switches it up a lot. when he is competing everything is just making every trick perfection and thats his thing.

Skiing is what you make it, for you, not the others. Yeah I do see Brown as a robot, but who gives a fuck, as long as he's having a blast, why would you care?

This. I never said he wasn't good. It just seems to me like maybe he isn't really having fun. It seems like he's approaching skiing from a point of view of "I need to be the best or it isn't worth it" so everything he does has to be perfect. Also it annoys me sometimes how well judges score him

What? if this is a troll, go away. NS is tired of people like you

If this is serious, what the fuck are you talking about? Bobby Brown is an insane rider. Sure the style factor is a little dry but he makes it up for the insane tricks he has been pulling off the last 4 years. I remember him blowing my mind in the 2009-2010 X games slopestyle. But this is modern competition and spin to win is the recipe for stardom in skiing. Bobby has it, TJ had it, Steele Spence had it, CR johnson is the founder of insane maneuvers... and so on.

I can say Bobby's skiing style is go huge. For that, I find him stylish and unique.

AAAAAAAnd hater will hate

Have you ever seen Bobby Brown ski outside of a competition? Do athletes usually "screw around" during competitions? Are you older than 12?

If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, you're either lying, or an idiot.

no, which is why people don't like him as much.

he pretty much just trains for comps all the time, and films jump segments with a few rails.

i can only think of 1 edit with bobby brown in it and it wasn't an fantastic edit.

he's a really fucking good skier, but he's a competition jock so people are jelly/dont care for his spin to win attitude.

I'm appalled by this thread, BB deserves zero hate, he's sick at skiing, thats all that really needs to be said

^^^holy shit. Almost every shot in that bonus edit i wanted to yell out stomppppedddd. Mad clean landings

jesus fucking christ kid you have god to be kidding me. he doesnt have style? have you seen him ski before? he stomps the fuck out of everything. it looks better then reverting to 8th grade dance boner status and afterbanging.

you are probably one of those fucking shitheads who thinks that when henrik does a switch 9 blunt in a comp he deserves to win.

and how the fuck is bobby only training for comps a bad thing? hes represents the next level of the sport, outside of movies and filming, he is the type of skier that is bringing our sport into the mainstream. and if you dont want out sport in the mainstream, then you can kindly fuck off.

/rant, i hate you and everything you stand for.

First of all, I was never saying he isn't an incredible athlete. Also, there was no hate, just distaste. Sure, he has style, but he does't have his own style. He does everything textbook, and that's an accomplishment, but I personally would love to see him have something that gives him individuality.

i beg to differ, skiing is losing the purity of the sport. 5 years ago it was a couple of guys having fun, and now 5 years later it will be a whole bunch of gymnasts who have been trained since they where born to preform precise tricks to score the highest possible score. as skiing progresses the uniqueness of the sport will fade and become taken over by commercial companies. phil casabon will be sponcerd by wall mart, simon dumont on team 7 eleven, its already happening to snowboarding look at shaun white hes sponcerd by target..... what the fuck does target have to do with snowboarding???

valid point.

i wish skiing would be more like how skateboarding used to be in the 90s

freeskiing used to be a bunch of hoodlems having fun, now half of NS gets butthurt when ahmet dadali says that someone's outerwear looks gay. what happened to you newschoolers? you used to be cool.

well... this. for the most part.

i will say that i have crazy amounts of respect for bobby brown. he is doing the craziest, biggest spins, most corks, stomping them, you name it.

now, i know i've only been a part of this community for 2 years, but i know the roots of freeskiing. it was all about straying as far away from the regulations of FIS, which included not really caring and wearing big clothes. also, FIS tries to regulate things in such a way that everybody is doing things in as close to the same way as possible. strict rules on aerials, racing, etc.

isn't freeskiing about being unique? being different than the person riding next to you, even though you're both doing something sick? you have to realize that every trick you've done whether it be a k-fed or a cork 9 blunt, somebody has already stomped it. this is why people like maks gorham, clayton vila, mike hornbeck, the TC crew, and B&E inspire me. people have been doing tricks for over 10 years on skis in the park, yet they come out with edits doing things you never even though about before.

that's really my only "concern" with bobby brown. he does things traditionally, and isn't as in tune with his creative side than a plethora of other skiers, who i enjoy watching more. he is "just" taking tricks that have already been done for the most part, and adding a 180 or extra cork. i want a trick to make me say "how did they even think of that, let alone execute it." i know this can go for a lot of other skiers as well. i still respect him a lot, he just isn't that great to watch.

IN MY OPINION.
