Bob Marley

do you listen to bob marley, or LISTEN to bob marley?

or just smoke bud and think youre cool.

i think what he ment was do you like listen to what hes saying or do you just listen to fit in with todays crowd which is typically stoners

Iron Lion Zion=Super duper. There are so many good songs by him though. I have never heard and bob marley I didnt like.

i think he was getting at all the kids who think theyre rastafarian because they downloaded no woman no cry from itunes and put it on their ipod and got the bob marley t shirt at hot topic and then go and listen the song with the lyrics about cutting wrists or some other type of pop music.

the 2 things that bug me most are movies involving torture and trends. they both just really get me going. there is a part of me thats saying i shouldnt care and let everyone be and do what they want and w/e but i think its the uneducation that gets me.

there are so many kids who say they are rasta because they have a bob marley t shirt or the ones who smoke weed and think thats all they have to do to be in.

i guess to each man his own but for me rastafarianism isnt just about toking. its about peace and just being mellow and going with the flow and not being an angry person throughout your life.

rastafarianism is a religion and then someone thought "hey that could make a good trend. we could make money off this"

to me that is not rastafarianism.

these are just my thoughts though. to each man his own i suppose

i hate all the kids who were there rasta wrist bands and think they are all reggae and shit while listing to 311. i seem to like peter tosh beter than marly these days. most kids dont even get into the roots of reggae like ska and rocksteady that is deep foundation of reggae and it all makes more sense if you know the roots. even the real modern reggae bands(the aggrolites, the slackers, westbound train) dont get much of any recognition from the so called reggae crowd cause they just listen to bob marley and 311.

I agree that mass kids are like that.. but trends will lead to shit like that. without bob marley being americanized we may have never talked about him to begin with.. or maybe he'd be as big as sizzla/luciano/capleton/etc. etc., but never as big as he is today. He's the person who really opened America's eyes to reggae music and the rasta culture. Although, not to be a dousche and correct you, but to simply try to educate, if you look into the rasta culture, you'll see that they never use 'ism', there's no such thing as RastafarianISM because they never use ism with things. Also, if you look into the history of the rasta people in Jamaica and elsewhere, they are FAR from peaceful people, in fact, in Jamaica long ways back, it really was just the opposite, they were extreeeeemely violent.

Anyway, just putting my two cents in. I wish I could walk up to most kids wearing Bob Marley t shirts and ask them if they really know anything about Bob Marley, his meaning, his lyrics, him as a person, or anything else.. because I doubt that 95% of them do, but in the end... it only will help Rita continue to richen her bank account, though.. and help his children out. Considering that he has quite a few out there, it's a good thing. I guess those are my two cents.

i really like damian marley, and i also like bob marley alot, its so perfect cause i like rap and reggae and damian marley is a mix so its the best of both worlds, but i listen to more bob
