BMW X3- Tanner did not split money

Sorry to burst your bubble, but despite what the NS article said, Tanner did not give any of the $15K to the other athletes. Before the event started they had all discussed the idea of splitting the money since the car was worth $40K by itself, but Tanner and Simon each said they would not split the 1st prize money if they won - the remaining 6 athletes were going to split if any of them won. This comes directly from several of the participating athletes.

 
if that's true that's fully wack on Tanner and Simon's part but especially Tanner's as he wins so many damn comps anyway. Again if true that's not going to help my opinion that they're both chumps who happen to be freakishly good at skiing

I dont see a problem with not giving it away. That is his source of income, besides sponsorship, that would be kinda like me gettin a paycheck then giving it to my co-workers.

some sponsors prob pay him (tanner) a % of the winnings from a comp as a bonus. so why not get as much money from them as you can hell if tanner plays this whole skiing thing right he could retire at 35... sooo why not?

Thats really cool of the other athletes for agreeing to do that if they won, but cmon don't hate on tanner for keepin 15000 that he rightfully won. It'd be a dick move if he said he would split it but didnt, but he said from the beginning he didn't wanna be in on that.

I don't really think anyone or any article should be telling the public what they do with their money anyway, regardless if they keep it, OR split it.

I think the whole concept of splitting the money is there because people are afraid they won't win. Its more greedy to say you want to split the money than to say you're not going to split it and keep it for yourself. This is my opinion anyway

I think they were trying to encourage progression, if you're guaranteed some money, chances are you aren't going to hold back and only do tricks that your positive you can stomp. things could get a lot iller. 'sides, tanner has a 3 million dollar condo and a pimped out SUV, I dont think he needs another one, or 15k it's like chump change.

ACtually nobody has gotten it right yet. Being one of those competitors myself I'll set it straight.

First of all...the apperance cheque was 2g's, pretty damn nice indeed.

Every single competitor before any of the events started agreed to split the 15. The idea was to pass down another 2g's to everybody else in the comp considering the winner was getting a 40 G cheque towards any BMW of their choice...but the X3 was being promoted at the event so thats why it was said an X3 was being given away.

But after everything was all said and done we found out that the 40 000 would be income since our job is skiing and therefore it would be taxed...and income tax on 40 G is like 16...so its a lot. Tanner is buying an X3 for his mom and didnt want to have to bring money out of his pocket for it and so I personally was the first person to tell him to keep the money. Most of the rest of us agreed. He won and therefore deserved it. In a perfect world it would have been sweet to split it, but unfortunately we live in a horribly taxed world. Not a single one of us holds any grudge or any malace towards Tanner and are nothing more than stoked for him!!!

i dont how all his sponsorships work, but for the most part, when a company sponsors u, they just give u stuff - not money

so his prize money is really his one main source of income
