BMW X3 invite at Brek

halfpipe:

1. tanner

2. crichton

3. shoya

it was judged a bit strangely - crichton had highest score but they judged best 2 of 3 runs.

i was there, and informed that it ran off a point system, some photographers told me that tanner had already won the bmw dueto the point scale so we left early, and he was right.

i'm not canadian, duhuhuhuh i'm just a little slow.

The final overall results were

1. tanner

2. crichton

3. shoya

It was based on points over all events and apparently was a wicked contest. Tanner laid down what some have said was the best slopestyle run in the history of skiing.. it blew everyone away.

Apparently Tanner is giving the BMW (that he won for first place) to his mom

yup, tanner won. i stopped in a gas station today on the way up there and there was a local paper with a big article on it

I must not have catched tanner's sick ass run, although i did catch a cab 10 he threw that was pretty ridiculous, but dumont was throwing the most stylie corked 5s ever. apperently he was also bosting 25 feet out of the pipe before he blew up.

Tanner didn't win because 'josh was judging' .. he really had some stand up awesome runs.. some would say that the US open taught him a lesson.. (he can't win em all) .. he really stepped it up and congrats to him..

and F- yeah to crichton!!!

Come on now ---Josh works for Oakley and his livlihood is directly correlated to their success---it would be nice to think he could be objective, but really?

Oh wait, maybe he should be judged by Pep---his roomate and puff buddy, now there is objectivity.

Simpleton---did you read anything in my post about Tanner winning because Loubeck was judging?

I was making a point about objectivity Name me another sport where people judge athletes that represent their (the judges) companies products---coming up short? That's because it dosen't F-ing exist outside of skiing.

Do you rally think Tanner should have won slopestyle at X Games? There was obviously some bias going on there.

Judging in this industry is corrupt.

I was at Breck sitting just under the judges stand it was interesting hearing them 'discuss' scoring.

Apparently some of the judges were very upset about Tanner's high scores from other judges. They especially got into it about Tanner's final run where he fell off early on the bottom rail and was still given the same score as Steele's run which was the best of the day with switch 1080's and 630's off rails. Someone finally told them to back off and get back to scoring.

It'll be interesting to see the coverage on Sunday CBS 2:00 ET.

Loubek strikes again! I bet it was his asinine idea to run a best 2 of 3 comp. Who runs best 2 of 3 halfpipe comps? No one, because it doesn't reward the BEST skier of the day, just the most CONSISTENT. (Since when should consistency, and not performance, be the yardstick for giving out tens of thousands of dollars or BMW X3s??) Sheer idiocy....

wow, some people suck at life. Tanner got fucked at the US Open Big Air when Loubek and Pep were judging. Although Loubek prolly has little idea how to judge he doesn't give Tanner his wins on a silver platter. Tanner works harder than anyone in this industry which is why he is the best.

now there's an opinion i fucking respect, that should shut every single person up, when someone competes and skis against the guy, and he's standing up for him, instead of using it as a scape goat. so this thread should be fucking over. way to say it Liam.

What the fuck do you expect? It's like leaving a crackhead in a room full of crack, you know what's gonna happen.

NS will have the story today.

'I didn't give up in Vietnam, and I won't give up here,' Kerry added.

It does seem wierd that Tanner won the X Games though. I don't know if you watched it on TV or if you were there, but I was there, and Jon deffinitly had the superior run to Tanners. It was also suspicious that at the botton of Tanner's second run he accused the the judges of a low score, and then he got a 94? Jon seemed more confident in his run than Tanner was in his. No disapproval of Tanner tho. his run was sick, and He is one of my favorite skiers. I think that the X Games people put pressure on the judges to score Tanner higher, but maybe I have meen watching too many movies. What disproves the Loubek theory is that, wasn't he judging at the Freeskiing open, and didn't tanner not get first there. I think that he actually got robbed at the Open. He deffinitly has the skill to rule the lay down a run that would score first at the BMW.

Liam is right about Tanner. he works hard and prides himself on style. people that know Tanner like Liam and myself know what he is about.

Girls are like drugs, they are to be used and abused

just for the info - turpin judged the open as well... tanner did get screwed at the open but was givin a bit of a gift at x-games.. tanner really did have a super solid slope run at bmw and did desereve to win.. and there were other skiers besides the ones mentioned above judging the BMW comp and they all felt it the top three were deserving... finally a comp where people agree.

There will always be a bias in judging.. it will always be 'unfair' to some.. and, if you are looking for more regulation with judging then go back to FIS .. .. regulation isn't what this sport is about.. it was about being free from those stupid rules and restrictions.. geesh.
