BMBW Predictions

The northern midwest also has a huge park scene. Everybody around us, mad river, bmbw, pknpk, all sort of died. The only resort that still has an amazing park scene is Seven Springs. Pknpk is the best out of the dead people listed but they don't build nearly as much stuff as they used to. If i recall correctly, Brandywine didn't even have a line for a chair on opening day last year which was sad. I miss the gold old days (even just a few years ago) where lift lines were 15 minutes and everybody was just hyped to be out there. Then again, I was a jerry back then and didn't know a fraction of what I know about skiing right now.

It's too bad springs is around 90$/day during most of the season

Thats cool. How did you guys get free tickets?

They did a promotional tour to a bunch of ski shops in Ohio and wv and the.fish got lucky enough to score a pair of lift tickets they were giving away at one of the stops

they basically drove from ski shop to ski shop and stayed at each for like 10 minutes. Me and Audrey got lucky enough to find them and got a bunch of free stuff

the season is upon us my dudes. I am pretty sure some resorts within driving distance will be firing up the guns this week. if they don’t they at least have the weather to which is a good sign in itself

I was accepted to liberty yesterday. Could be skiing snowflex next year

Not sure how much you know about Liberty, but that place is a serious nuthouse. I've been there 3 times now. They are so incredibly religious that it is off putting for me to even be there. My friend broke his arm quite badly there 2 years ago, and he was cursing like a sailor when he went down. They told him that he'd have to get his own help and find his way to the hospital on his own because "this is a christian establishment and we don't tolerate such language here". Another year I was there, it was about 90 degrees out on the slope, and they threatened to kick me out because I took my shirt off for about a minute to try and cool down. That's explicitly forbidden there too.

I have nothing against religion, but they're a little nutty there. Look up their famous student code of conduct called "The Liberty Way" if you want better examples. All sorts of ridiculous rules, and you get fined monetarily if you break them. It's a very strange school, don't go there just for the skiing. The snowflex loses it's luster pretty quickly anyways, I've had enough of it after 3 summer trips down there

I'm a little worried about the whole religion thing. I went to a Catholic School through 6th grade and it was a bit crazy

You wouldn't like it then. From what I've gathered, the only kinds of people who go there are either insanely religious themselves, or have insanely religious parents who send them there to try to straighten them out/punish them/whatever

i love being catholic but I don’t think that I would want to go to a school that is intense with enforcing religion. It would be super nice because it would be a lot easier to practice, but I feel like it is wrong to punish people for sinning. Its almost hypocrisy because christians believe that everybody is a sinner.

I agree. As a Catholic I believe in letting people do their own thing. A lot of Catholics seem to really push and enforce religion on others

yea millennial and the generation before really ruined the image. I feel like our generation is the generation that either discovers what it is actually about or they just straight up go athiest.

any snow making or anything going yet?

firing up wednesday night and going around the clock until sunday. They will most likely open mills and alpine saturday

When did they get hkd snowmakers?

I was very confused by that investment because they had to add a whole new air compressor system. My guess is the hkd guns are super cheap and will only be used in marginal temps since the smi polecats can pump out a ridiculous amount of water when its super cold. Like they can't even run all of the polecats at the same time when its below 15 because the water pressure drops too low

opening day saturday with buttermilk and summit open with a park most likely. brandywine opens next friday. First solid start to the season in a long time

They already laid off 90% of their entire marketing staff this off season

Not sure where you stand on all the virus protocols but I wish they’d just let people fucking go skiing. It’s literally one of the only outdoor activities where 99% percent of people already wear a face mask, have almost no skin exposed, and it’s usually windy to keep the air flowing. Plus most people who go skiing are not at all in any sort of high risk category. Fuck Vail. Are there any independent ski hills left in Ohio?

Snow Trails in Mansfield. Rparr and I have been skiing there for the past two seasons and it has been magnificent. They always get their full park build up at least 3 weeks before BW does. I am moving to Kentucky this winter for an internship, so I'll be at Perfect North thankfully.

I would just like to share that every resort in the area besides bmbw has started snowmaking prep. There is no chance that bmbw opens on time.

Last I heard, they have a broken electrical transformer which has led them to have no power down there. BUT, it’s been broken for months and they’ve known about it but have put off fixing it. BMBW continues its reign of being the biggest shit hole in the region.

Gonna be at BMBW mostly this season after spending most my life as a Peek'n Peak local... Peak's park situation is going to be terrible this year due to COVID layoffs and such, plus the 2 hour drive blows so decided on BMBW. BMBW's park page going silent on social media seems like a bad omen though... Always wanted to get down to Snow Trails so hoping to get a few weekend days in there. Any locals who wanna ride/film this season lemme know!

I am moving to Louisville in mid January, so I didn't get a pass anywhere. I literally live 15 minutes from bmbw, but i stopped skiing there two years ago. I'll probably be at trails for a couple weekends before I leave. The weather is looking like complete garbage though so we will see. One of the big park crew guys there just moved to Colorado, so nobody knows what they will be like. They are usually reliable and transparent though on social media.

Anybody driving down to perfect north this weekend? Probably the last time we can ski for a few weeks based on the forecast.

I wouldn't waste your time until they do a rebuild. It was pretty underwhelming, but snow is snow at this point.

I just got back from Perfect North tonight. That place is on point. They already have 20 features stacked and a crap ton of snow. Meanwhile, it doesn't look like bmbw can open any time soon with the current weather forecast and rain.

Factual. 5 on the weekends is crazy

Yeah it’s actually retarded. This isn’t Vail, no one is getting up at 7am to prepare their avalanche equipment for a day in the prog park.

It probably either comes down to staffing problems, insurance Karens who claim that “nothing good happens past 5pm”, or both. Whichever way it’s fucked. I feel bad for kids in school who don’t get to go to ski club because bmbw decided to operate only when their customers are busy.

My local BMV has better hours than Bmbw.

I know i keep saying this but snow trails is totally worth the extra drive. 100% open right now and the jump line and advanced park will be open by next weekend.

#Truth

Fuck Vail

I checked their insta and it looks like they really have gotten their shit together. All new and improved snowmaking infrastructure while Vail is focused on boosting their earnings per share by $0.0003. I live in CLE but I will make the trek this weekend.

Waited til January for massive lines, terrible hours, and 3 tiny rails. If it wasn't for the trips I have planned to other Epic mountains I woulda just rode snow trails/peak. BMBW dropping the ball this season so far, just a joke.

It’s been in the teens and low 20s for the past 36 hours, and they haven’t turned a single gun on at Mills. Fuckin twats

Meanwhile the city of Mansfield has been destroyed by an avalanche resulting from Snowtrails nonstop snowmaking

I have absolutely no idea why they are building quite possibly the tallest whale in the history of the state of ohio. They are literally building a park on that trail right now. 22’ quarterpipe? Lmao
