Bmbw parks

most who ski here know what thier park is about. and they aparently saw the last thread that was made, so lets get some ideas together on what everyone wants to see in their park. i for one wouldn't mind a flat rail thats longer than 10 feet. just post up some positive input.

damn straight. and hopefully not straight into the ground either. i hate the ruts that form like 2 hours after they open.

some sick box combos would be legit, i know they have had some, but theres like only one and they dont show up for a while

high potential in this place, lets get it rolling early this year

I'd just like them to possibly make some better lines. like put a rail of 2 after the jumps or just somehow have it so you don't only have to hit jumps or only have to hit rails.

*ZING* But for real, so much could be done better than they were last year. It would be great if they had a consistent jump line, not jumps that were good for 3 days.....bad for 2 weeks until major rebuild. Then BMBW would realize the new jumps were bad so they would start all over again.

And some stuff in the prog park would be great...as in actualy jumps, it could help keep some of the little kids/parents of the sides of the jumps in the main park.

Creativity.

Last year was pretty......stock.

They had a bunch of flat boxes (not even setup well) and the setup didn't change the whole year except maybe once.

RAILS. Brandywine has far too many boxes. They have rails that they don't setup, I know they do. Creativity is a must.

I got a BMBW pass for the first time in my life this year. I hope I'm not disappointed.

Awe Dizzy, this lack of snow has got you in a bad mood again.

Keep the peace man !

Not to worry, its Ohio and we get what we get. Just gotta make the best of it. It could be worse, we could be stuck in Iowa or Alabama.

Nope... this weather has allowed us to get a head start on the slopestyle course down at the Knob.

Next summer should be a blast!

Snow is coming. Next Year I am going to have to dump the motocross bikes and pick up some of them down hill pedal bikes so we can chase you down the hills.I bet my kids can beat you going downhill on mtn bikes going backwards.See ya when the snow flys.

wow, i hope your right, but there is not any spotting of snow, or temps required here, bout 25 min away.

ill be stoked with a jump at least 30ft. ill be happy without rails in that case

i'm hopin so. but i'm guessin that they won't start blowin snow till thursday night, and then they have a possible solid week of blowing every night. idk what the weather looks like after that tho. i'm hopin for the 18th so i don't have to drive 2 hours to work the weekend before finals...

i'd like to see the rails and boxes set up super legit pretty early this year, thus keeping the noobs off of them and keeping them from just riding over the side of them, keep that stuff for the prog park

looks like they will have definetly friday saturday and sunday night to blow. after that doesn't look like it. but the weather changes a lot so im hoping the 12th. If they just have like 3 or 4 rails for the first weekend ill be happy.

But word around the candypatch is that they might have some new rails for us. i certanly hope its true and not just some more boxes cause we have enough.

Don't expect much of any effort from BMBW prior to the first ski schools starting up. They have to refund money to school groups if they aren't open for "x" number of sessions. There is no agreement like that for season pass holders.

As far as rails... yes they have a bunch of new ones.

why get new ones when they dont even use all the old ones they have....sorry i guess 20 years at bmbw has made me cynical

well, whats the word? what did they get/make? i heard about a down to flat rail (sorta like the one at hood) but im not quite sure what else they got

Other improvements for the 09/10 season include no food at Joe Rider's during the week.

Mills is like the limbo... every year you lower your expectations and guess what? They some how manage to come in lower every year.

thats alright. that food is expensive( more than the downstairs food) and you can't get an employee discount on it. i don't think this year will be as bad as the last. its the same people who own mad river and mount snow. matter of fact kent graham is the gm at mount snow both of their parks seem to be great. i can still have hope! but in reality i just wanna ski. thats it.

All of the resorts you mentioned are owned by Peak Resorts. However, they all have independent management teams that are more or less given free reign over their respectiveresorts. Josh at Mad River is awesome, he has a very different model in place than the mills.

Kent used to manage the Mills, he was a total retard (and probably still is). Most people who have skied the mills the last 10-15 years would agree his time there was the absolute worst.

Yeah and the first year that the new gm's were at mills was prolly the best year i can remember.

it was ill as fuck. they had comps. the best the park has been ever, and working there was probably the best it's ever been.

I think we seemed to keep being disappointed because our expectations were so high. but in comparison last year would probably be one of the best years, especially if kent was still the gm.

all i want is a decent park that could allow me to hit rails and jumps in the same line, and hopefully some different rail setups, that include rails, not only boxes.

It would be nice if the lines were set up with multiple lines with options between tables and rails. That's how they do it at PNS. then there is the prog park where some actual tables and rail set ups (if smaller) would be nice. maybe it allow people to actually learn how to hit things and teach some park etiquette.

I thought this thread was supposed to be about POSITVE feedback to the BMBW parks.

Obviously you have no idea what the hell you are talking about, Mike March has nothing to do with the park, that would be Marky Mark...the park manager, and the GM.

Why all the hate, Mike is a personal friend of mine and is nothing less then in support to the park at BMBW.

After working under Mike for a season, I hold true to my statement. And he does have SOMETHING to do with the parks in the position he is in, just not a lot. I know Marky Mark is in charge of the park.

Is this Jeff btw?

I wonder why they dont just get a bulldozer and move some dirt around to build jump line and then cover with snow. A little drop in at the top like the ski racing dudes have would also help.

I also think that they should put one big jump on the hill that used to have bumps on it and leave it there as the big booter for the season. They could then let tiger grow bumps for the old school guys like years ago. I guess then they would have to move the newbies over to the bottom of old 76 trail and we would have to stop skiing off the back when snow is on. This one might get me in trouble. Either way, I got a feeling things are about to happen.

I'm with you Ernie... put the beginners on the beginner terrain and let the experts ski the expert stuff. Why they seem to miss that one is mind boggling.

I knew that I had a feelling. Just go an email on my crackberry that they started blowing snow. Now I am going to get in trouble. I am to old to get in trouble. thanks Dizzy.

I am ashamed to say bmbw is my home..in my 11 years riding there they had one decent year...and the year after (even with more snow) it was once again horrible...I personally have no hope in this place unless the same people who revamped boulder/mt snow/and now mrm comes in and dumps money in bmbw...until then people should TRY to roadtrip to different resorts every weekend if possible..that's what I did and I had a hell of a lot better time in the midwest than if I would've rode bmbw all the time. If you can go to mrm this year, go to pns, go to big boulder, etc etc...fill up a car 5 deep with your homies and go places..it makes things way cheaper..try rollin two cars deep it makes hotels soo cheap...please don't depress yourself by getting stuck at a joke of a resort they call boston mills/ brandywine.

^I'm personally not a big fan of the rail and staircase (the stairs end to sting a bit). I am a big fan of bmbw building some dirt bases for their tables and maybe adding some other usable features. I'd also like to see a s-rail or box too.

Yeah roadtrips are great, and BMBW isn't the best, but just keep in mind that there's far worse places in Ohio.

I grew up riding Alpine valley. I think my friends and I have a completely different outlook on skiing and snowboarding because of it. We have adapted to get used to less than optimal conditions. That's what makes midwest kids different. We have to deal with so many things that hold us down, but in the end it makes our outlook on the skiing/snowboarding world far different than someone who grew up riding Park City or Whistler. It makes us stronger.

This year will be my first year at BMBW a lot and I am stoked. Hoping to progress a ton, meet some new people, and just have a good time. See you out there.

That wasn't directed towards you Matt. I was just giving my opinion on shitty Ohio.

Snowmaking has started. Get stoked people.

I am now with " I Hate Ohio " . Heff has a point, but he was one of the best riders in Ohio last year. BMBW cannot survive as a business on Heff and the twelve other kids like him.
I am on both sides of the fence. I ski for free, because my daughter teaches there and I am also proud that BMBW teaches more people than most resorts in United States and Canada. The place has to stay in business and make money and I am always really happy when they are lined up outside the ticket window.
I honestly believe the park will get better and better and we do ride all the other resorts in Ohio. All I and we really care about is that it is gonna be covered in snow really soon and we get to ride again.

QFT. Learning how to ski in Ohio and WV has made me truly appreciate every day on the snow now that i live in CO. Everyone i ski with always complains about how the snow is too much "man made" or "icy"I never complain about the snow conditions out here, my comment just starts with "well, when you ski in Ohio, this is good snow"

funny thing to me is, being an ohio skier i could care less if it snows at all. as long as its cold enough to make snow im happy.

Now we have a dilema, MRM Beer Party next Friday night. Beach Party at Snow Trails. Cold Beer and Man Made at BMBW.Might even have to break out the ole webber for a parking lot bbq.Life sucks her in Ohio. Time to brighten our outlooks. See ya all on the snow.

Never said there weren't worse places in ohio..don't understand why you're always so quick to your draw....the point of my post was to clarify my opinion on how bmbw is ran...not that there are worse places to ski in ohio...

I'm soo gratefull to be where I am right now...and yo, I've been riding these resorts since I can remember..you kind of make it sound like you and you're friends are the only ones that have a different outlook on riding...we all do...I had to make riding in ohio fun for myself for 13+ years somehow. Regardless of how shitty bmbw, alpine, pns, snowtrails, mrm, etc etc is we all make it fun somehow

I guess the past season I was just super bitter because I got all my hopes up. Having more of an inside look on things really made me realize how poorly certain aspects of the resorts in our area are ran..it's pathetic how lazy some of the people are..and some people just shouldn't be in charge.

I was way stoked on being an instructor for bootcamp this past season. I chimed in on a few of the park crew meetings..jody made it sound like some ill things were going to happen this winter. With the crazy amounts of snow that dropped I thought for sure it was about to go off..but unfortunately..as always poor management f'ed that up. I kept in touch with the gms and the head guy on park crew via email giving my suggestions/solutions and hoping that features would get better so I could help the more advanced kids in my group actually progress. Well, everything that was talked about usually never ended up happening making it super hard for me to do my job just getting me more and more frustrated...Comps also could have been ran better by a 5 year old..I thought competing was supposed to be fun..I saw more frowns and broken friendships than smiles and fun at bmbw comps..the smallest things could have made these comps a blast... ..In the end words were exchanged..bridges might have been burnt..

most likely my last season at bmbw was the one that fueled my now negative bias towards the resort..I'm sure I'll ride the wine once or twice over xmas break..not because I'm stoked on the resort but because its the most convenient and it's skiing..i guess

I guess i'm getting into another rant of how pissed I am at that resort...I wish the best to anyone riding there this year and hopefully they have their heads screwed on at least a quarter of the way straight..but i'm done bitching ...i guess appreciate the fact that you can ride and don't be like me and bitch at bmbw every day ..haha orrr just go to mrm or pns....ask Terman I'm sure he would love to tell you how much fun he has at mrm!

And steve..i'm sure you'll respond with something that relates to alpine being worse than bmbw...i don't care ...save your time..I've heard you say that millions of times more than I would care to hear it :)

BUT! can't wait to see you all over xmas break and if anyone who is relatively close to me...I have a comfy leather couch in my room in slc if you're looking for a place to do some real skiing ! :)

PEACE!

heff

oh and if anyone's wondering...I don't think there has been a day ridden at pc where I don't think about taking that slow ass quad above the park at bwine and how much that thing sucks!!! ahaha

and somehow skiing/thinking about skiing puts a smile on my face no matter the circumstance...even being in the midst of writing this 7pg research paper...fuckkkk

i couldn't agree with you more heff.

it's like bmbw is that old man that has always done things his way and can't understand the concept of getting with the times.

Although this might be a new idea to some people on ns, the best idea that i have ever heard for bmbw is to make one of the resorts more "private" like not allowing the ski club kids to ride there, and no rentals either.

this would then let one of the resorts have a kick ass park down a full run (prolly pride and half of north bowl.) a mogul run(tiger), a beginner park (buttermilk), a race hill (other half of northbowl, and croyle), and no one cares about summit.

then brandywine could be all ski club/rental.

this would also cut down on stolen equipment (hopefully).

oh and brandywine is the ski club/ rental place because it smells like poop there.

unfortunately i dont think that would ever happen.bmbw lives for kids that come in busses
