ok so the story goes I was at my house two days ago and my friend drops this 10 pound weight on my toe. I woke up this morning and the toe nail is blue. how do I fix it and will this affect my skiing.

So your toe is blue because you have a collection of blood underneath the nail.

One of two things will happen: Your Nail will die and you will require it to be ripped out of your nail bed (happened to me, isn't that bad) or risk it and leave it on there so it can heal naturally.

Something you can do that most runners do or when accidents like these happen is to take a sewing needle or any type of needle, take a lighter to it and make it get nice and hot (don't worry about sterilization as the fire does this) and gentle PENETRATE the nail (doesn't really hurt, just prepare yourself or have someone else do it to you) and allow the blood to flow out of it. If you do this there would be less pressure on the nail and it may allow the nail to heal without needing to remove it.

Do this, or else your nail will fall off. I had a nail get smashed during football this year and i did this, drains out all the blood and makes it heal a lot faster

Through your ear, What do you think? Through the top of your nail, Just be sure to do not send it too deep or else it will hurt a bit.

haha. I meant where on the nail

Lost my big toenail to frostbite many years ago. Taped the toe up and skied most of the season. By the time the nail came off, the new one was about one-third grown.

Without the nail, you might want to lightly wrap your toe to protect that sensitive skin from bumping in the boot. But you'll be fine.
