Blue Mtn snow

alright i felt like bringing this thread back from the dead. blue has sidewinder open now. as of tonight, the jumps were better than anything bear creek had 2 nights ago. here's how it plays out:

-the drop rail up top with a nice gap onto it

-40-45 foot step down

-battleship which was ride on unfortunately

-sharkfin was also ride on

-20-25 table with a real poppy lip and a steep landing

-rainbow is ride on

-wallride

-downkink with a good lip/gap onto it, real easy to disaster

so i guess my predictions held true, things are looking much better this year so far, we'll see if it lasts.

 
bear creek= 50 foot table transfer gaps... just wait till it gets more sno, but its real good that blue is steppin it up big time so i will go up there a lil bit tis year

when i was at bear, that transfer gap was no where near clearable. you'd have to tuck from the very top of the mountain and then you might hit the knuckle if you were lucky. the lip didnt have enough kick to it.

 
good to hear some confirmation from justin on the park being good and the best it ever has. Now i just hav to see this to believe it.

allright, here's the deal, blue's park....its not so bad, they have a few good hits, and the rails arent set up as bad this year....i was at bear the other night, and i must say, their rails are set up pretty well, the jumps were nothing too spectacular however....so even if blue's park isnt the best out there, we still hold it down....this will be the last time i compare blue to bear, because i'm sick of reading these posts like....'bear's so much better' or 'blue's park is coming along'...i think people need to stop talking up their local mountains so much and just rip shit up...regardless of where it is. i feel pretty confident in my skiing that i could go to bear and hang with their 'good skiers' and the same goes for blue....people need to stop hating on other mountains and just ski the best they can

 
why are there so many kids out there this year that look so pro with all their new gear that im sure mommy and daddy bought em, then they do the sloppiest railslides or straight air the hits? ive seen way too many people on twins that just suck, and its not even like they are trying to progress and get better, thats so annoying. people, if you own twin tips please put them to use, seriously.

BTW i was talking to etore, one of the park groomers, and they have a flat down box on order for blue, and they are gonna change the setup after the second hit and battleship, theres gonna be a hip down on the corner that will help to get speed for the rainbow, and the old crails coming out prolly somewhere after the wall.

^if you had any clue who the people worth talking to at blue were and didnt suck, you would never have said that, etore is tony cerieno if you must know, and him kutzler and vasquez are the ones that take imput from rider and try and incorperate it into things that we want, like no more ride on rails.

yea, im gettin a little sick of ride on rails, the rainbow, and battleship could be good if they had nice lips on to them, like the drop rail and flat-down do. but you just gotta make due w/ what ya got and keep skiin

 
the good thing about blue is there is actually a little true skiing. challenge and the bumps on main street are good considering the location. its totally rad they have skiercross and bikercross and shit too

vasquez confirmed the downkink box, as well as some other new stuff. i dont understand your obsession with the park bullies either. they have how many of those things now? you would think they would have figured out how to make a jump with kick to it. i'm anxious to see the setup when i come back from school next weekend.

 
yo justo- you should talk to the park guys and see if you can get a few of the jumps made as wedges so that way beginners will not roll over the stuff. please post when the new stuff is put in then

Our park at Blue is better than last year, so far at least. We need more snow to add more features to the lower section. The real problem is the totally lame pipe. It is just too small and carved out of the ground. I have not been down to BC to see how the pipe is, but I heard it was nice.

yeah i'm liking that idea as well. the jump up top is kinda like that, except the lip is the whole width of the jump, so that kinda defeats the purpose. i'll talk to the park crew kids tonight if any of em are up there.

 
i dont get y they have 2 close 4 days at a time 2 remake a park.. bear always seems 2 do it at nite.. its kinda weird

that and bear's park is all of 250 vertical feet. blue's is more along the lines of 800 or 900. they need to make about three times as much snow, and then groom it all. plus they are entirely redoing the park. thats why.

was up there today since we had off from school, and the park was great, conditions were awesome and the sun was shining, here's the deal w/ the sidewinder park - drop rail, 30ish foot kicker, battleship, sick step up off to the right, sharkfin rail or second corner kicker, small little table, wallride, small stepdown/kicker, c rail, which is set up nicely......it was probably the best day of the season today, miller(PRski28) and i were up there today rippin and it was sooo good, we were both rockin some nice 1,s and 5,s miller tried a 10 but ejected right on the lip (damn salomon bindings) and i was throwin a few 7's of the corked variety, overall awesome day, ill be up there tomorrow if we have off/if not, after school, and thursday night w/ rubino... later homies

 
i got p12s on my 1080s now, no more fear of my skis flying off mid air or railslide due to salomon. downkink box = its about time

 
^^^do you like your 1080's? I like mine, except for being too short. There is a lot of 1080 bashing on here... I guess mostly from people that do not ski them.

 
i used to like them. they have no pop left at all. my core is totally shot and the edges are probably the thinnest of any park ski i have ever seen. i dont like them near as much as i used to, and they dont even compare to my 4FRNTs.

 
alright so about 97% of this thread is made up of my posts, but anyway, the park was respectable today, finally. drop rail, step down, battleship, decent step up, sharkfin or table, downkink, wallride, rainbow, stepdown, then the c rail. way too many altercations today though. some lady was standing off to the side of the last step down, and when i'm like 25 yards or so from the lip, she decides to ski right behind the lip. i had to cut off the side and way overshot the landing then proceeded to flip on her. so if anyone in here has family members / friends who ski sidewinder as a regular trail and dont know what they are doing, tell them to stay off, its for everyone's safety and i dont feel like losing my voice yelling at morons anymore.

 
hahaa sounds like bear creek.. park infested wit ppl who either roll over stuff, go off teh sides of lips 4 rails, or otherwise get into the way.. im glad 2 see both mountains are infested with idiots

I hate it when people 'ski' through the upper park. Most of the time the are in a flying wedge, and then get pissed whith all the people jumping around. There should be a smaller entrance to the trail so people do not just happen in. The lower park is bad enough with people.

Yey, the halfpipe is finally decent. In fact I do not think it has been this nice since last February. Unfortunately the crowds were CRAZY! I estimate around 9-10,000 tickets sold today.
