The Snow Sports School at Blue Mountain Ski Area in PA is announcing a new Freeride Ski Program for the 05/06 season. This program will be included in the new brochure coming out in a couple of months. The program is for skiers with at least an intermediate skiing ability and will cover all Freeriding levels. The program was designed to be fun, safe and a great place to learn new tricks or just add style to your old ones. Here are some highlights on the program*:

sounds cool

if they do start this program, it would be wise to maintain the park everyday

Yea. I said it.

Ok, here are a few updates on the program:

PRICE:

$465.00 after 11/16/5

$420.00 before 11/16/5

I would suggest purchasing a season pass for this program if you do not already have one. The lift tickets alone would be around $800... which is almost twice the price of a season pass. Especially if you get your pass before 6/15/5.

DATES:

Start - December 17, 2005

End - February 26, 2006

Time - 9am to 1pm, Saturdays and Sundays

REGISTRTATION:

On 12/17 we will need to meet at 8am to get everyone together and checked in. This will be the last possible time to get in the program. Ideally we would like to have most people registered by the beginning of December.

is our starting date. The normal times for the program are 9am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday running until February 26, 2006.

STUDENTS:

We will have AT LEAST 1 female instructor coaching in this program. We really want to make it as comfortable and as wlcoming as possible for the girls!

Send me a message if you are thinking about joining.

COACHES:

If you are intersted in teaching in this program please sent me a message. The first coaches meeting is coming up soon.

QUESTIONS:

If you have ANY questions please send me a message, or post them on here if you think all can benefit.

For those of you who have expressed an interest, there is a Freeride coaches meeting tomorrow evening at my place. Email me if you want details.

i gotta give you serioius props chris, on having your shit dialed...hopefully all works out with the program, i'm really excited for it, and hopefully i'll be coaching

when i buck buck, you better duck duck!

^^^^ definite props!! too bad we can't get something worked out pro-rated... There is no way we can be there 20 sessions - too many other comps at other mountains!

Thanks Kevin. Your intersest this evening seemed genuine. I know some of the employee policies can be frustrating, but when you are out on the snow none of that seems to matter much. I think you can make a good coach! We will have another meeting before the season starts so I will keep in touch.

Papa, I am working on a possible late season entry. It will all depend on how many people sign up in December. Thanks for the support though!

We met with a park designer from up north today. There will be major changes to Blue's parks and pipe over the next 1-3 seasons!

Thats great news - let me know what you can work out - I guarantee we would fill our unspoken for days at BLue if you can put something together. figure that Nipples would be good for 10 days.

no 8 ^^^^^^

COC 2005 sessions B & C

Man I must have looked retarded when I tred to 270 up on the side of the board walk and fell off the other side 6 feet into sand.

good idea on starting this whole program and i hope it works out for you...one thing to make sure to do is keep a real good contact btwn your park crew (especially manager) and ski school (or whoever is running this program for you) also, i have a feeling that you will be seeing a lot of good new things with blue's parks this year...both of blue's park groomers were at cutter's camp this year with me and they were real good guys and picked up a lot of new things to try out

UPDATE: You asked for it, you got it! The Freeride ski program will be also be offered on a daily and weekend basis thoughout the lenght of the program. Prices will follow...

^they do for the race program and the snowboard freeride program, i dont see why it would be any different for us.

If I had a kind I would certainly pay the money to get rid of them for 10 weekends... not to mention make them happy.

Actually it is special. There is not another mountain around that has an accredited freeride program.

No, I think it's a great idea but the amount of kids snowboarding and skiers racing is far more than ski freestyle. I just wanted to know how many you guys expected to be enrolled in it?

more and more kids are skiing freestyle...in the past few years ive seen plenty of snowboarders and racers start freeskiing. There have been such an increase in twintip sales at the shop in recent years and the sport is still growing...there are definately enough numbers

^^ good point. this is only because there has not been a freeride ski program to date. we believe there are a lot of racers who would to like to switch camps if it were available. i hope to have a few dozen students to start.

i saw a few racers checking out the poster at qtown with their mom with some serious interest. so its looking good i would say.

we live 3 miles north of the MD line.. sucks. But seriously we would join Blue's program if we could. My kid joined the racing team at CB to become more rounded with some racing skills and in the interest of being the first freestyler on the CB team..

I would go in that but i probably wouldn't learn shit becasue i would be better than the instructer

Just giving this a bump. The program starts is less than 10 days. Come on out to Blue this weekend, we will be in the park and happy to answer any questions you may have.

I do not think anyone is too good or too bad for this program, there is always something you can work on to make better We are here to help you progress to any level you aspire.

yeha, regardless of experience and skill, this will be a great opportunity to go out every weekend and ski with a bunch of people who share the same passion as you do.

Hey everyone, the first weekend of the Blue Mountain Freeride Ski Program went great. The students are having a lot of fun, and strting to progress already! I have to say that the coaches are also having a good time.

It is not too late to join up, in fact you can join the program at any time this season. If you are in another program at Blue you can also switch over at any time.

Also remember that we have single day sessions for $75.00, and we are working on adding single hour privates for $75.00.

Come out and check us out, or just say hi!
