Blood inside of toenail?

So both my big toenails are filled with blood underneath them. Is this something that happens to people often?

did it just happen randomy or did u hit it or sumthing

for me i was smashing rocks with bricks ( i was realy bord) and i acedently missed the rock and bashed my hand... no wait it was actualy my friend that bashed my hand i was fixing the rocks

 
Skiing today, nails were a bit long, like just over the tip of the toe, and because of having to lean back all day, they got really bruised and stuff.

I think I'm taking a pin, heating it, then making a hole in the top of the nail to let the blood out. I've heard it's painless.

Yea, the hardest bit with the pin thing is to actualy do it... it's easier on the brain if you use a small screw instead because you don't get mental pictures of accidentaly stabing right through your toe with a pin.

just ignore them i get them alot being a roofer fulltime usually the nail stays on so dont worry it gets better and wont hinder your activites...except picking up girls at the pool ;)

 
yah i did that skiing once, an then my first day of college i was drunk bearfoot and running and kicked a rock and it happened again

now that sumone talks about it I realise I had this but never realised it was blood it was just turning brown and some day I found it in my sock. Weird

dude i smashed my middle finger nail in my bindings last year and had to do that pin thing and it isnt painless... you have to push real hard to get the pin through. what was cool though was that they prescribes me codeine that stuffs strong

dude, what boots do you have? this exact thing happened to me last spring. . It'd never happened before, but I was breaking in a new pair of boots at the end of last year, and one day I came home and my entire front big tow was bloody under the nail. I just assumed it was because I overshot a couple of landings that day. But it was weird. And honestly, I left it to heal, and I lost the entire nail. It still isn't completely back to normal and its 10 months later. I thought it could be because my nail was a little too long that day. but I wasn't sure if that was it or why exactly it happened. Its sucks dude. good luck with it. It was annoying this summer cause whenever I went water skiing or wakeboarding everyone thought I had toe fungus. if anyone knows why it does this, or how to avoid it. . let me know.

 
Do the hot pin deal... especially if your toes start to hurt. Its the 'letting' of the blood bit. It works.

^ you can do that but have some one do it for you it will let out the blood and make your toe feel alot better. but if you are getting that it probably means your boots are to small.

My boots fit pretty well actually...

I've used them for like 3 years, and my feet haven't grown in that time.

I'm getting new ones mid-season anyways.

But I'm gonna continue with the pin in the nail thing, I got part way through last night, but it wouldn't go all the way.

This same thing happened to my bro just recently. A lot of pins are aluminum, and it doesn't heat up, so you need a different kind of pin. But even if you do drain the blood, its still gonna get all nasty looking, and the nail will fall off, too.

I drained it, and it relieved a ton of the pressure. So much pressure that the blood squirted a good 4-6 inches up.

But it is still sore.

just a tip, use a paperclip next time, cause the end is thin and flat, heat it up and itll go through like butter. maybe u should consider a new pair of boots to eh?

My boots have never done this to me before. My toe nails were slightly long, most likely the problem.

I'm gonna try a bit of foam in the toe first, if that doesn't help, new boots it is.

Yea thats a weird problem and i dont know if the pin would work cuz the blood is dry by now!!

yeah, if you have really thick nails, you may need to use a really small drill bit. then just twirl it between your fingers, untill it goes through.
