Block o' wax

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to buy an assload of wax (online? for cheap?). I'm not looking for super high tech race shit, an everyday economy wax will do. Just need something to keep my bases clean and silky smooth.

Wax is not for making bases clean and smooth, it is for storing them and making them slide better.

However, your local ski store should have some. If you freeski you should only need a single bar for a season, maybe 2, and I didn't even use that much this past year.

This should suffice, maybe get 2 bars, its always going to get used:

I personally like using high temp waxes because I find them more versatile, but this will work just fine.

where are you skiing(or did you say)? for park yellow wax is usually fine(yellow=warm temp and groomer) but red is also fine and will perform better in pow if you are at a ski resort that has normal temps of below 35 degrees(and will work in higher) and above 20 degrees. I use all red on my pow skis and a mix of yellow and red on park skis(unless it is very cold or warm). heres a good kind:http://skiandboardstore.com/store/product/22986/Swix-LF10-Wax-Yellow-60g/

best bang for the buck http://www.racewax.com/ USA based, have knock off waxes

http://www.holmenkol.us/Departments/Racing-Wax.aspx USA I like the Alpha and beta but they have others...general use waxes etc...

already mentioned http://www.reliableracing.com/category2.cfm?category=2500&header=WAXES%2FREMOVERS%2FACCESSORIES they have something for everyone...but it is often mixed in with Nordic stuff... USA

http://www.kuu.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=90 cdn the website doesn't show their big blocks of wax...

http://www.tognar.com/wax_waxes_swix_toko_dominator_holmenkol_zardoz_ski_snowboard.html these guys are real tech heads / waxmonkeys

http://www.race-werks.com/store.php?cat_id=17 usa....look whats on sale already...

all of these are reputable.

i got two big bars of the cheap green wax from racewax.com

i just need to keep my bases saturated and all that, i dont need anything special and it works fine

check ebay this winter i was looking and they have huge stick real cheap...i never up buying it though

If you just want decent basic wax go to the nearest ski shop that sells a lot of like hard core race gear and look for base prep. It's just a basic all temp wax but since race wax is so specific it's pretty cheap. The kind Swix makes is really good and comes in pretty big blocks its usually white or red.

Hertel's Hot Sauce. $19 for 3/4 of a pound. Really fast stuff, but doesn't last as long as most all temps.

OBJ all temp in a bulk block. $40 for 1.65 pounds of wax.

Toko bulk pack. $50 for almost 6 pounds of all temp.
