Blister on heal - new boots

At the beginning of this season I was fitted in a pair of Salomon Impact 9's. Custom foot bed and all. Loved them so much. At times they felt tight in the heal but over the best fit I've ever had.

3 weeks ago, went to our montain and it was super busy so we parked farther away from the hill from usual. For some reason we decided to put our boots on and walk ( I usually lug everything to the chalet and put the boots on there )

By the end of the day, my right heel was pretty sore. My girl went to get the car so I wouldn't have to walk.

Took the boots off, and I had a round blister a good inch and a quarter wide, and the skin had broken off. Hurts like a bastard. Tried skiing the next week, did one agonizing run, and drove back home for 2 hours.

I gave it a couple weeks to heal and took tomorrow off to ski. Just put the boot on as a test and it kills. The blister hasn't heeled completely.

So now I'm going to the shop tomorrow instead.

What should I expect? Like I said I did a bit of a hike in these boots but I'd imagine in a good boot that shouldn't damage your feet.

Can they make the heal wider (assuming thats the right approach)

Should I demand a new pair?

What you you guys think?

I think tightening the heel is what they would do.

maybe some c pads so your heel cant move (blisters come from moving in the boots)

bootfitting over the internet is pretty much impossible.

i got the same problem with mine ounce. i put on one of those thick bandaid things and it really helped. wear that for a while until the blisters gone then talk to a boot fitter and tell him whats up

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I'll stay at home and masturbate all day tomorrow.

But seriously god damn, I've been out of commission for three weeks, had to ruin a pair of shoes because I folded the back down so there would be no friction when walking, have a big ass scab on my foot that will take at least another couple weeks to heal. Well at least it's not infected.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm crying, just jittery after waiting all spring summer and fall for winter, only to be prohibited from sking by a freaking blister.

When it's all better I will go to the shop, ask about tightening the heal, c pads etc.

well ask them what they think first tehy will know better then us by SEEING the problem

and as far as I know big bandaids that are a couple mm thick and kinda spongy could probabkly do the trick to ski for the next weeks/dayz

Unfortunatlely the band aids don't take the pain away. They stop the scraping, but the pressure from the boot is enough to cause extreme pain in the wounded area.

I sound like a real pussy, I have a high tolerance for pain, I swear!

new socks man. i don't think it's your boot. try 2 pairs of socks for a while. or maybe some arch supports so your heel doesn't slide. heyo.

well teh cushionning from the bandage will put teh pressure on a larger area tehn just the blister, wich should take away some of the pain.

yeah if you want a blister the size of your boot

NEVER use 2 pairs of socks. EVER. The movement and friction is what causes blisters

get some stuff called moleskin. if you dont know wehat it is go to a pharmacy or somethin and ask them. works wonders for blisters, and you'll be able to ski again

not sure, it's this like soft fabric stuff that you cut and it sticks over the ripped skin or about to be ripped skin. its great if you hike alot or for soccer.

wikipedia says'

Moleskin, originally referring to the short, silky fur of a mole, is heavy cotton fabric,

woven and then sheared to create a short soft pile on one side. The

word is also used for clothing made from this fabric. It is also used

in adhesive pads stuck to the feet to prevent blisters.

Clothing made from moleskin is noted for its softness and

durability. Some variants of the cloth are so densely woven as to be

windproof. Most manufacture of this cloth takes place in British mills. Noted clothiers who use a great deal of moleskin in their garments are Barbour and Lambourne.

How tight are you supposed to do your boots up?

I ended up going the other day, I put one of those super padded corn removers on the blister, and tighten my boot to the point I thought I could break the fasteners.

It hurt a little but not too bad. Going again today.

Maybe I just don't know how tight to do my boots. I usually wear them tight, but not too tight because I thought you get cramps easier that way.

Your thoughts?

NO MAN!! Never wear 2 pair of socks!! But he is true on buying new socks. Buy some luxury ski socks with those layers in it (dont know how they are called). Buy some blister bandage they work super good and you will have no pain with skiing!

The best way to fix your problem is.... Duct Tape. Put it straight over the blister and let it fall off naturally after you have finished skiing or let it wash off in the shower. It works so well because the tape is shiny and slippery so it lets the heel move and doesn't abrade the skin. Best of all its really cheap
