Blink 182 on the homepage?!

I just saw the banner and the background on the homepage... as a blink fan I am stooooked! but also as a newschooler I wonder.. holy shit how much did they pay to have a background.. that is epic. sweet idea doug!
 
yeah and I like that it's only on the homepage not everywherei prefer to see ski backrounds while discussing skiing :)

I didn't know that so many people actually liked that band... I can't stand their music or anything related to them, but hey whatever.
I must say that I am annoyed with this though. Sorry to all the fans and everything, but I actually turn off a vid if their promotional thing comes on. And it has nothing to do with skiing either or even sports. Like as much as double pits to chesty sucked, you could imagine a skier doing something similar, rather than seeing a bunch of musicians playing naked. I'm glad it hasn't shown up as the actual background for me though, because that would be a real piss off. I'm fine with ads and all, but having a skier or skiing pic as the background is like the backbone for the skiing vibes on here. It's like being home, surrounded by skiing.
Sorry for the negativity but this got to me pretty bad...
 
i don't see what the big deal is:1. It was only on the home page2. Obviously good Money for NS3. our current backround is just blue so it's hardly blocking anything crazy interesting
 
1) ok then that's fine I guess since your #2 is valid2) yeah I know3) It still has a skier on it and I like it that way
But since you like the band you would probably like it and see no problem.. I suppose if there was a band I liked a lot on there I wouldn't mind either. But if NS didn't need the $$ then I would not want bands to replace skiers for the background of the site... It's summer and I'd like to saturate my brain with snowy shots as much as I can right now to deal with withdrawal...
 
to be honest i really don't like blink much at all haha but i think what is important is that NS is getting the cash and it's only visible on a page that you see only briefly before going to the forums and it isn't intrusive like the axe pop downs
 
I don't ever ever complain about ns ads, I understand why we have them... those full screen ones are just a bummer since they cover up the dope backgrounds.
 
but then you click on anything and its not covering it anymore... why complain, how long do you spend on the homepage? not very long. I understand that its cool to see a nice skiing background but realy? what are you losing during those 2 preacious seconds you pass on the homepage? you dont miss anything that you will see on the next thing you clic. doug knows we want to see skiing backgrounds and skiing content and beleive me he knows its invasive but its better than any other page.

Think about it this way, the adds on those page get visibility everytime someone opens newschoolers.com. that is a shitload of visibility! visibility= money. Now weigh that against how much time you actualy spend on that page. You get to see the add for all of ( this is an aproximate average) 5 seconds, yet the add gets more visibility than any other add package on the site and for this they have to pay... a lot!

Totally see where you're coming from, didn't mean bad blood by it at all. Just was surprised there was another full-screen after the Blink response. Don't worry, I'm all for the betterment of NS.
 
haha dont wory I didnt karma rape you for having an opinion. i was just using what you said so I could put the statement out there for people who are realy agaisnt this
