has anyone else seen these? i just read an article on them in SBC's skier magazine. I dont know whats up with them but the retail price of the 'park' ski is $7500. They said its made with a steel base so you can ride over every thing? and this is one of the cheapest skis they offer. There are a couple that at more than $10,000.

Does any one know anythig nabout this company. If you want more info i can post the real article

i think its head that makes a ski with a microchip inside it to adjust depending on how you're carving and stuff. wasn't that expensive though.

how in the hell would a microchip do anything? like are the skis robots or something? do they grow longer or shorter cuz i mean even if u put a microchip on a piece of plywood it doesnt make it do anything its still a fucking piece of wood

There is some kind of Wires or something in the Ski, so that when you start getting speed chatter, this shit like hardens and stabalizes the ski.

I think k2 used to make a ski that induced a current based on the flex of the ski that stiffened it up if it needed to. maybe it wasn't k2. it was a few years back.

K2 did make a ski with something like that. it had a piezoelectric device in it. basically it absorbed the energy created by a vibrating ski and turned it into electrical energy and lit up a little LED in the ski. it did not however change the properties of the ski. the intelligent skis from head are similar but they take the energy and transmit it through conductive fibres that change the stiffness throughout. technically it does work (i.e. it does stiffen the ski), now is there any advantage to having a ski that gets stiffer as you ride, well it depends on your ability. in fact the better you are the more advantage you can take from it contrary to what was said earlier.

as far as bling bling skis. when i was a kid i saw a pair of HUGO BOSS skies, i shit you not, that were selling for $1000 and this was when top o' the line skies were $500-$600.

yeah the whole steel base would rust or not go too fast at all on snow, the friction of goin over snow melts it

Lib Tech used to make so many pairs of skis a year...they sold for like $2000 or something like that... there was a rumor that they were actually coming out with a ski line this year, but i never heard anything else, so i imagine it was just that...a rumor

thank you roswel for clarifying the piezo deal for all of you out there who dont think a chip can do anything to a 'piece of plywood'. When was the last time a ski was made totally out of wood anyway?
