i have kind of been practicing them on a rollin skateboard and am kind of getting it but when ever i tried last year i would slide out at smack my hip on the box,

What am i doing wrong?

im not sure exactly i kinda just starting learning last year, i can do them on rollerblades, maybe lean forward a little more?

make sure you can slide both ways on a rail.........right and left foot forward. once you can slide both ways....sliding out won't be a problem

i couldnt do 270 ons or switchups until i realized skis are attached to your feet and your just jumping around in circles. if you can get over that your good.

well, assuming you dont fall on your face doing a 180 in your sneaks.

ya i can pretty much slide both ways, but my right foot forward is definetly not as good....

for the 270 i always threw myself to far to the left and missed the rail... but i got over that one

yeah i just was learning them at the end of last year and it seems like i kept slipping back so i just had to lean forward more.and you have to beable to slide rails both rails farly good inless you do what i was doin and just do the switch up like 2 feet before the end of the rail so you dont have to go far.

Don't just pop, shift your weight. It helps if you look back up the rail first to the top of it, center your balance then give yourself the pop u need to bring your skis around. You can either keep looking up the rail and come out switch, or bring your head around once your skis are locked.

If you're sliding out, you're probably leaning uphill after your switch-up. Try thinking about putting most of your weight on your front ski after you pop around. You could widen your stance once you come around a bit too. Also, make sure you are spinning straight, not off axis. Finally, as was mentioned earlier, practice sliding unnatural.

i say the best way to learn them would be to just practicing buttering on a box, like just switching up without the hop and just get really confterble with spinning around on the box while sliding. and once youve got that down just try and put a litle hop while spinning around. once youve got them on box's try it out on a rail.

Find one of those really wide boxes. Do butter 360s without jumping just spin aronud. Then add a little hop when your about to face backward. Then do a bigger hop. Then jump all the way from one side to the other. Then try em on narrower boxes nd eventually rails. Its called progression.

For starters, don't throw the spin harder than you need to. Often, we're a little nervous about getting around so we spin too fast. From there, the best way to stop your rotation is while you're still in the air. When you 270, fix your eyes uphill at the beginning of the rail, as if you were trying to stop at 180. Let your skis continue to twist to get the rest of the way to 270, but your head will help stop your rotation. Once on the box, if you're still spinning, you'll have to try to pretzel it. For a regular 270, you have to apply some pressure to the toes of your front foot, and the heel of your back leg. Try to get a bit of grip with your edges too. It is actually harder to stop your rotation on boxes than it is on rails because they are so wide...
