Blew out knee

lots of stretching to get the elasticity back, will take a couple of months, and don't over do it.

100% after 1 yr

Stress will get you nowhere,

do whatever the doc tell you to do, keep the brace as long as they say, and don't believe you are healed when you think you are, because thats the surest way to injury...

yeah it takes a lot of work to get it back. i remember i couldnt ride my bike forever cas it took so long to streatch out. but i just worked it out like everyday, not to hard just do alot of reps to build up muscle and once you can run do that alot. i really dont know if you can do anything more to speed up the recovery time, its just a sucky injury. good luck man

yeah, or close to it at least, as long as you gradually work it and dont over-do it. if you overdo it it might even work against you.

i blew my ACL MCL LCL both meniscus and some bone fractures, work hard and do everything the docs tell you and youll be back good as new

so how did you blow it out anyway?

yes, if you take it slow and obey your knee: if it hurts, stop doing whatever you are doing until it feels better.

i blew mine out last night at work just walking, i tore my acl. I tried to walk on it, and could hardly stand, so i just leaned on the host station, and told people where to sit, i couldnt wait on them though.

^yeah it helps, but you cant bend your knee far enough to use a bike for a while, you have to work it out gradually and stretch it a little further each day. once you can ride bike, hell yeah hop on the bike, its a different excersize than lifting weights and will start to get your endurance back that you lost from sitting around cas you couldnt move.

It will probably take a month before they want to do the surgery. In this time stretch, stationary bike. You shouldn't need a brace once you regain some stability. It will feel pretty normal in a couple of weeks, unless you try to pivot on it or make a weird movement like that.

Don't know if you have a surgeon picked out already, but I'd highly recommend Dr. Hugh West in SLC. He was a good surgeon, and he had an aggressive recovery program. I was off crutches in 7 days. Backpacking 4 months later, skiing 5 months after surgery. It wil take longer for it to be 100% though. And blowing out the same knee twice is a bad thing.

Take it easy in the meantime, and don't do anything dumb that could cause more meniscus damage - that's the real long term problem.

surgery isnt too bad, only the first week is shitty, other than that its just rehab, rehab, rehab
