Blatant Rip-Off

Just saw an ad for these while watching tv, and it made me so pissed. Fuck Sketchers taking what was a brilliant, cool idea that Tom's had and trying to make some cash.

Anyone else fucking hate brands that do this?

I had an idea for the greatest dildo of all time but that bastard Steve Jobs took my idea and ran me out of business. Made billions because he got to trademark my invention, the iPod

Why do you care? They are doing a good thing and having traveled and done mission work in a part of Africa where people are lucky if they get new shoes every 2 or so years i have no problem with this.

to explain, those Nike's/Reeboks/Expensive Shoe you wear and get new ones every 3 months because they fell apart? They have to make those last in a very brutal rocky environment.

So shut the hell up and appreciate the fact that someone out there has a kind heart and is willing to help.

I'd rather them come up with an original plan to help someone in need than try to make money off of someone else's idea.

Isn't Bob's the one getting the shoe sales? and sketchers is donating shoes? Am i just reading it incorrectly?

I think its funny how most threads in NSG just does a 180 and fills up with comments hating on the OP. If this thread would have been "Sketchers donating shoes to kids!" people would be commenting "wow, what a blatant rip-off of Tom's"

Yeah, it's cool and all, but it's not like Skechers did it out of the kindness of their hearts, they did it for one reason, money.

ya, get over it people steal others ideas and make money off them, you think crocks were original fuck no i created those bad boys and that bastard stole my idea.

...and?

Am I the only one who's completely ok with a company making money while still contributing and giving away shoes?

Welcome to planet earth. nothing is done for nothing.

If Toms wanted they could send a cease and desist or sue them. If they don't then who gives a flying fuck.
Also I'm all for them helping out poor kids so the more shoes to poor kids the better, it just sucks that they're sending them toms and not something that will protect their arches or their toes from being bitten by wild creatures.

I don't know what the all fuss is about this. those shoes are terrible looking anyways. if you actually want to make a difference for people in Africa you wouldn't do it this way. you would be much too hipster to be part of these trends

they could have done the same buy-one-donate-one thing with any kind of shoes that dont look exactly the same as toms. at least that way it would seem more like they cared about the donations than just pretending to be nice in an effort to wipe a smaller company off the map. its the difference between skechers saying "wow thats a great idea that helps lots of people, tom, lets try and get all the major shoe comanies to do that so we can make the world a better place" and saying, "wow thats a great business strategy, tom, we are going to take that to try and make more money from it than you can."
