Blast at Texas fertilizer plant

call me insensitive, but either way its way worse then boston, which imo could have been a lot worse and people are over reacting about boston, i mean, an explosion like this really puts it into perspective.

I'm not comparing anything to Boston. They were very different. One an accident that was drastically worse in terms of carnage and casualties. The other a planned attack on people with intent to harm, kill, and instill fear. The only reason why we are comparing them is because of an explosion. If it were an earthquake that killed 60 would we even be trying to compare?

Let's leave this argument out of this thread.

more on this topic of the US going crazy, on the same day as the boston marathon, which im not trying to downplay, it truly is awful, however a us piolot mis dropped a bomb in afghanastan and killed 30 people. and no body heard about that.

"At least 30 members of an Afghan wedding party were killed and many more wounded when a U.S. plane bombed a village in the central province of Uruzgan today, Afghan officials and residents said.

The bombing happened today in a village in the rugged, mountainous region 175 km (105 miles) northeast of the southern city of Kandahar, residents said.

They told the local Pashtu service of the BBC at least 120 people had been either killed or wounded.

A Defence Ministry official said celebrants were firing into the air, as is traditional in Pashtun weddings.

"There was no-one to help last night," resident Abdul Saboor told the BBC. "We managed to transfer some of the wounded to Kandahar in the morning. Some of the foreigners' choppers also came to help.

"There are no Taliban or al Qaeda or Arabs here. These people were all civilians, women and children."

Defence Ministry offical Dr Gulbuddin told Reuters: "More than 30 people were killed. It was a wedding ceremony and some of the participants were firing in the sky as part of the celebration. Americans have confessed that they made a mistake."

BOMB MISSED TARGET"

It really is tragic... That you didn't see the full page of people shredding that in the Boston thread because it was from 2002. Also bringing it up to downplay anything current pretty much means you're a pompous douchebag who just believes anything they see on their FB feed- speaking of which, did Bill Gates ever send you that $5k??

I guess, But IMO fuck that. If I have kids and dependants and if I like like even just a little bit, I'm not working in a bomb factory or homemade bomb factory, or nuclear plant etc.

Sorry, I know 'you gotta do what you gotta do' but fuck that.

inb4 robot workers. Literally

comment on the youtube video:

"the child is ok. they were on our local news last night"

No, you're just a fucking bitch for even bringing it up in the first place. A tragedy isn't your fucking soapbox to try to act better than everyone else.

i totaly admit that i was wrong and it was dumb to post. somebody told me about it and i was like ahh this makes me mad i should say something without doing any research or using my head. so yeah, im sorry. but im not trying to be better than anyone or dismissing either of these extreame tadgadies. my thoughts go out to the people in boston and texas

We jump off cliffs with planks attached to our feet... As with any dangerous operation, risk can be minimized. But not eliminated, as has been proved here.

Of course, that doesn't help the people who got blown up. But that's humans for you.

Ironic, because it was at a fertilizer plant north of Waco--one day before the anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing, which is close to Waco, which was bombed with a truck.... full of fertilizer.

Really? I guess I'll say it..... IT LOOKS LIKE A MISSILE HIT THE PLANT AND CAUSED THE EXPLOSION, AMERICA IS UNDER ATTACK WE MUST LASH OUT AT OTHER COUNTRIES IMMEDIATELY AND SECURE OIL IN THE NAME OF DEMOCRACY.

And not to mention the plant plays a massive role in the towns economy. Town was most likely built around it as was listed prior to my post.

Yeah because the first responders that all perished in the explosion had all the information about the factory and the fire instantly as they rolled up to a fucking inferno...

What is up with the pink names making insanely ignorant/nonsensical posts lately?

They should... Its a freaking hazardous plant, emergency people should have a plan in action ahead of time for when something like that goes up.

Yeah I don't know if you know this but that plant had a wide range of safety violations... You're all morons. They're fucking first responders meaning they're trained for this. If they didn't know what was on fire then they weren't informed by the right people aka the people who run the fucking plant. Are the first responders supposed to magically know that building and everything contained inside of it?

Talking down on the first responders who gave their lives to help others is really fucking low and shows a severe lack of intelligence. But hey, whatever makes you feel superior.

Did you really just call him name?

Oh boy, this is gonna be good.

I love you again. No homo.

It's way easier for people to bitch about mistakes made by fire fighters in a small rural town. They were trying to do the best they could with the limited resources they had, and it cost them their lives. The internet arm chair quarterbacks, know for a FACT that the plant would not have exploded if the first responders hadn't sprayed water on the flames. It is so much easier to defuse a bomb that has already blown up.

....

I wasnt, I was just saying its ridiculous to think firefighters were spraying water on a building like "lol firefighting". Im sure they had a good reason to. Im also quite sure they knew what they were fighting.

Except that was a rocket fuel factory... which is not even comparable to a fertilizer plant. Almost tops that explosion? Haha, jackass. And they didn't build the plant in the middle of the town. People decided to build near the plant, you uneducated fuck.

62 years its been in business, and was last fully checked by OSHA in 1985. Apparently, OSHA fined the fertilizer plant a mere $30 of what should of been $1000 because of improper storage of anhydrous ammonia. It seems that this facility wasn't regulated appropriately and the lack of regulation was a harbinger to what was to come. It does raise some regulatory questions. I'm sorry your mad?

Where did I say anything about the regulations? It's common sense that the place was not regulated which brings up massive questions about how deregulation of an economy is fucking stupid... as if the massive oil spills that have occurred in the past was not a sign of that. Also there were many more violations than just the storage you uneducated shithead. Even if you're kidding around, saying random, ignorant and stupid bullshit that doesn't pertain to anything is not creative or funny.
