i read the front page in the daily interlake about blacktail's upcoming terrain park. anybody heard anything else about it? sounds like it may be pretty sick.

here's the excerpt:

Changes also have taken place at Blacktail Mountain near Lakeside.

Professional snowboarder Greg Manning has joined the staff as Blacktail’s marketing manager. Manning competed for four years in ESPN’s Winter X Games and has more than 20 years of experience skiing and snowboarding. He will be based out of Lakeside during the winter but will continue to compete around the country and in Europe throughout the season, he said.

Next month, Blacktail will open Independence Park, a terrain park running the length of the mountain. Two professional snowboarders will join Manning to design the park, which will feature jumps, rails, boxes and a quarter pipe.

The park will feature new designs ski areas have never done before, he said.

“The benefit of Blacktail is we have a clean palette, and we can do whatever we want,” he said. “We don’t have the restraints that the normal corporate ski areas have.”

The park will be designed for all levels of freestyle skiing and snowboarding, he said, so everyone from beginners to professionals will enjoy it. Manning hopes to open the park sometime in December and will have an exhibition with professional snowboarders when the park debuts.

Blacktail also hopes to add additional bus service this winter.

It also will offer new programs, including men’s day for beginners and snow-sports sessions for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Women’s and children’s programs are available as well.

Ahead of Blacktail’s opening next week, its ninth annual Old Man Winter Party is Friday from 6 p.m. until midnight, and will feature live music, food, and a ski and snowboard exhibition.

Interesting, I think I read that in the INterlake or Missoulian, it didnt say anything about the exhibition though on friday though. I might try and go to that, well see though.

Im definately considering checking out their park though for something different. The drive up to that mountain is kinda crazy though, 14 mile road back there that is pretty windy.

They should be putting in something cool. I would hope that it lives up to its hype. We will see, won't we?

Came across this on Transworld Business online, so that was kind of impressive to read about little old blacktail park. Here it is.

focus on affordable skiing and snowboarding. Blacktail is northeast-

facing built on over 1000 acres of National Forest. The resort's top

elevation is 6676’.

Lakeside, MT has recently been hired to handle the marketing efforts

for Blacktail Mountain. Manning brings over twenty years of ski and

snowboard experience to the Flatthead Valley. As a professional

snowboarder Greg Manning has traveled the world experiencing the

highest quality of terrain, lodging, and hospitality.“Blacktail can

give any mountain in the USA a run for their money,” he says.

Blacktail Mountain this winter

will feature a state-of-the-art terrain park. Greg Manning brings his 4

years of WinterX-Games event experience to the hill! The new park will

feature Jumps, rails, boxes and a quarter pipe! Professional riders

will be brought in to layout the park with Manning. Blacktail will also

be hosting a “Wake up old man winter party,” this fall. The event will

premiere the Latest ski/snowboard film from Teton Gravity Research.

Blacktail Mountain will also be hosting a freeride competition this

spring!

I will point out that Blacktail does not have snowmaking in their park, and will have to wait for mother Nature before they can push anything of true size. However, the upper section of Independance Park is perfect for a jump line...just the right length and steepness, and north facing.
