Blackberries, decision making. Apps and such.

So, I have searched and nothing really came up with an answer. So I decided to get a Blackberry. My phone company Telus, discontinued the Blackberry Pearl, because of the pearl flip which is what I was going to get originally, so I found a new one on eBay for $200 cheaper than at the store. So now that is on its way being shipped here, I start looking at apps and stuff I could get. However, i haven't found anything on this, but do pretty much all the apps in the BB app store work on Pearls (the non-storm ones of course) or no? Because everything I read seemed like it mentioned the Curve or the Tour or the Bold and not the Pearl. I guess I don't really want to get a phone that is going to be completely outdated and not fun to have in 3 months. I would get the Tour but the cheapest ones I could find were like 400-500, and I kinda break alot of phones (like 7 in a year), so I dont want to go all out on a phone.
So should I immediately flip the pearl when I get it and go for a storm or a curve or do you think I'll be safe with my Pearl?

Things will work with the pearl, the app store will only show you apps for your phone once you start using it.

However, I used to have a pearl and I would recommend getting a better phone. The pearl is nice if you aren't very good with technology, but if you are pretty savvy with devices then it gets old fast.

i had the pearl and hated it. put it this way my dog ate it and i wasn't even mad. the pearl was blackberry's way of selling phones to people who otherwise wouldnt have one (younger people). and yes most of the apps will only work on the the newer curve's and storm. i have the new curve now.

I would get the iPhone but I know 7 people who have broken 4 iPhones each. I dont know, I just cant rreallly justify paying 500 for a phone... like everyone in my family already thinks its a joke that I am getting a BB. But at the sametime, alot of the phone I have broken I haven't liked...

Try finding the Tour or Curve through a third-party seller online. Because I bought my Tour and extended my contract through Amazon Wireless I got the phone for like $150 off.

Get any Blackberry but the Pearl. As long as you have the 4.5 OS of higher any application in the Blackberry App World will work. Don't get the Storm. The only other way you might have a problem with apps is if you get a Bold 9700 or a Blackberry with OS 5.0.
PS..."blackberrys"
