yea i got one and the fucker is THROBING..hurts so fucken bad. i tried putting a hot needle to it but it wouldnt go through..any suggestions?

cut your toenail so there isn't white part on the tip, also, try tightening your 2nd to top and your top buckle more on your boot.. also, try taking it to a LEGIT shop and see if they can heat-stretch the shell.. i don't know where you're from but if you're ever in boulder, co go to larry's boot fitting. he will make your boots fit like a glove! i just got my 06-07 foil's stretched, as well as custom insole's made, and they feel amazing now

also, soak your foot in some hot (not extremely hot but very warm) water and dump in a fair amount of epsom salt. keep it in there for a while and the fluids from under your toenail will start to release. it might help to squeeze your toe a little bit too.

Word... best cure ever. You should consider getting your boots custom fitted, your feet shouldn't be moving that much.

there are better things to use, such as a hollow needle i found a the vet, but i used a sharp tipped knife and rotated it to make a hole in the top of my toenail, releasing the fluids. i have also seen it done with a utility knife/razorblade device. good luck pat

happened to me first day this year but no longer, i got spks! the toebox really does help

dude.. hot needle for sure. Keep doing it. You won't burn your self, just keep reheating it and pressing it through.. You better do it today too, tomorrow will be too late.

stab through the front of the nail, right underneath. thats what i did last sunday and i skied yesterday no problem, i just stabbed it got all the blood out and soakedit in cold and hot water swtiching. its gonna throb like shit for like 4 or 5 days though so be prepared

yeh it was ill, and fuck needles i just used a mechanical pencil. There was blood to like the edge of the nail though so there was like no skin under the nail really so just stabbe that shit

I've always just used a drill with a small bit on it, but then again I live in Montana. Whatever you do, don't go too far past the nail.

thesalt and water one actualy works but it doesnt replace a needle and gettin that shit out. Hurts like a bitch but you gotta do it.

haha medically speaking.. i think the salt and hot water thing might be a little safer than using a mechanical pencil or something.. but it's up to you! either way.. your boots are either way too big, or too small in areas.. again, try getting them custom fitted with insoles and/or heat stretching

I don't know about that, if you stab the skin between your nail and toe its like the worst pain ever. Thats how Sied tortured Soyer on Lost. Don't you guys watch TV?!

for some reason that kinda grossed me out haha. I just imagined you twisting a humongous butcher knife into your nail.

no big deal...I loss my big toenails every year and I ski brand new custom fit boots every season..its just the way some of our toes are, and it has nothing to do with boot fit.

Your gonna lose your toenail, it will take a long time, but someday in april you will be chilling in a hot tub, trying to lay some game down with the lady and your toenail in all its dead sickness will float to the top of the tub...

i wouldn't say 'it has nothing to do with boot fit' .. obviously that's the main reason why he's having trouble.. like i said before.. it sounds like your boot is either a.) way too big, b.) way too small, c.) way too loose, causing your toenail to jam up into the front of your boot

i'd really encourage getting either custom insoles and/or your boot heat stretched by someone who knows what they're doing

both of those things helped me immensely

mine were stretched both ways a considerable amount

obviously there's only so much stretching they can do before they compromise the integrity of the shell but they do have some room to play around with. but it all comes back to getting them fitted correctly by someone who knows what they're doing in the first place, then fine tuning them if need be by stretching, insoles, etc.

do the salt & water thing and wait for it to fall off... but id does take a long time... i got mine about 4 months ago and i still got a tiny bit of black nail sticking out from my toe, but maybe it is cus i haven't clipped my toe nails in like a month..

That happened to me recently but I didn't do anything. Now I just have a black spot under my nail, but it doesn't hurt.

Cut the nail as far back as possible and watch blood and puss bubble out for about 30 minutes. Then continue to push down on the toenail to drain the rest of the juice. Then in spring, twist the toenail from the last strand of skin connecting it to your toe and put it on your friend's dinner plate.

You might want to go to your boot fitter and get the toe grinded out a little. My right big toe was a mess last year in my new boots until I got the toe grinded out. I have been 5 times this year and I still don't have black toenail yet.

When that happened to me I got this little hand drill from a clinic designed for this purpose. It was suggested to me that I use a hot needle but that scared the shit out of me. I didn't want to be pressing down on it going almost there, almost there, almost there, then BAM right through my whole toe. I found the tiny hand drill a little easier to control.
