Black base, black wax?

No, any wax can be used on any base. Get yourself some nice all temp all condition wax and be all set.

i don't know much about waxing, but i use Dakine all-temp wax and i have atomic punx with black, sintered bases.

you do not need a black wax for a black base. if you want to do it right, just use a base prep and the wax of the day.

I know this.

My question was whether a black wax (assuming it had a high graphite content ) was better suited to a black ski base.

Does a black base also have a higher graphite content than a coloured base ski?

And is this an advantage?

to my knowledge, yes and yes

race skis have black bases for a reason.

black wax has graphite in it which can be good depending on snow and weather conditions

yes a black base has a higher graphite content which does make it faster. but the wax does not, for example the best super high fluorocarbon waxes are usually white powders. they are most hydrophobic and have the best temperature range.

there are also graphite additives for different temps and snow types, which would be better in case, or in addition to flouro powders

Important note however, just because you have black base material doesnt mean your base is a super-fast race base with any special properties - you can get black pigmented extruded-piece-of-shit bases.

Yes, like Swix HFBW (I guess?). But to be honest I don't really see the point in using HF waxes for freeskiing (unless you ski mild slushy conditions and are competing for X-games gold). I mean come on, these waxes cost 60+ USD for 40grams.
