Black (ABS) pipes VS. White (PVC) pipes

I have see a few threads on this, but most of them weren't very helpful. Which kind of pipe is stronger and less likely to crack. I have been fine with white pvc pipes until I was learning how to 270 on, and then I started cracking them.

The black ABS pipes look a little stronger although I have never tried them. Anyone know which kind of pipe is stronger and more resistant to cracking, expecially when spinning onto rails?

Thanks

When I went to Home Depot to get mine, the guy there told me that ABS is stronger, so that's what I got. I haven't had any problems with it. There are different grades of PVC though, so you should be able to get some that will hold up. (I think most people go with 80 or higher)

ABS is like 3 or 4 times more expensive. I guess it should be stronger for that but i dont really know

i have a PVC rail that is super solid. it's lasted me awile and once my dad needed to move our hot tub and so we unscrewed the pipe and used it to move our 1000+ pound hot tub. it didnt even warp one bit. still a perfect tube. hope this helps.

I have had mostly good experiences with PVC too. It survived from year to year, until I started to learn 270s on. Does everyone elses PVC rails survive 270s on?

the pvc i had didnt survive 270 ons but thats because it wasnt thick at all. i switched to abs. in canada its like 12$ per 12 ft , 1' 1/2" pipe. but abs is really brittle in the winter, thats its downfall. just buy thicker pvc. gray electrical pvc is more than strong enough and it doesnt crack in the winter

i got some ABS at home depot for 6 bucks per tube and its really strong. i had it all winter( i live in summit county) and it can hold anything. 270 on, switch ups everything. and ive waxed it one since i bought it in december

Damn what a shifty 700th post. Anyways, abs doesn't crack when its cols out. My PVC tubes cracked on a cold night when we were seshing it. We threw the abs pipe on it and didn't have a problem with it. This is my second year using it and it's still going strong.
