So im in biology and were learnen about global warming. In the next thirty years it will increase about 5 degrees that means the pacific northwest wont get snow and everyones winters will be shorter a and crappier with terrible snow and there wont be any summer riding places and this is already presnt at whistler with the summer glaicer getting smaller and also lately the winters have been getting worse and worse and theres no chance of them getting better damnit biolody i knew i should have taken physics

i may be way off the mark, but isnt Biology the science of life? wouldnt you go over global warming in Ecology or something like that? not saying that you're lying or anything, but what kind of jackass teacher teaches stuff that isnt part of the curriculum?

well i have come the the conclusion that if you can predict the weather in the nxt 4 days how the fuck can you say global warming is going to keep continuing... i mean use the information that we have had and it looks bad but i saw in the national georaphic and it showed a timeline and if the patter stays the same we shoul dbe @ the end of a global warming and possible going back to earth cooling

and even if global warming occurs (which is totally up in the air at this point...), it means that if one area, like the pacific northwest, stops receiving snow, another area will recieve more snow and will benefit off of the results of global warming.

for instance, areas futher north that dont receive much precipitation at all at this point in time could benefit alot by a rise in temperature, and could receive much more snowfall and overall precipitation than at this point. so it isnt all bad news.

you people are fucking retarded. let me start that it is not just an issue of hey, well get more/less snow. no, animal habitats and migratory patterns change, rainfall levels change, which means food production changes. sea levels have come up a little and eventually... im sure a long way off... louisiana and florida will be under water... but floodings pretty common already. also, why would you not prepare... lets say youre going out camping, weather forecast calls for rain... weather forecasters are morons and its sunny now... do you take a rain coat with you? sure, why not, it weighs next to nothing and youll be happy you brought it if it rains. so WHY THE FUCK would you do NOTHIGN and just say meh, global warming... whjy should i care. take some fucking reponsibility ya little polesmokers.

you have to think of weather patterns on a more macro scale. ie thousands of years not hundreds. the chance that we will see any significant changes is nill, not to say that man made sources don't contribute but in the big picture the amount of warming we have had is still in the realm of the natural ebb and flow global climate patterns.

 
i can't wait until they have neon green snow.

it'll be so much easier to see the moguls. and people won't eat all of our snow up. i think thats the real problem. it snows and shit but everyone eats it away. i mean why wuould you even eat it right? thats what im asking!

most if not all of global warming is from our fusion reactor in the sky the sun. think about whats going to affect the climate more 1-2% more co2 or the sun burning hotter. also the earth has been warming up since the little ice age in the 1600's when most water ways and harbors where cloged with ice durring the winter until about 200 years ago. sun spots are also on the rise meaning that the sun is becoming more active meaning that it is puting out more heat. so whats more logical some co2 or the sun. (this was paraphrased from the national post article called 'blame the sun' an article by ian clark a prof. of paleoclimatology at the university of ottawa

but the records we have dont go back far at all, if it was just a global shift of heat, which are natural and not caused by the atmosphere thinning, which is just like the ice age, it wouldnt be a problem, and thats what i think

^ yea that sucks... anyway, it will become hotter but think about it... u are what MINIMUM of 12, in 30 years u will be 42, u wont be skiing 1/100th of as much as u do now. The other thing is in 30 years we will have enough technology to have real good snow blown in the summer and contained. I think the human race is in more danger in the near future than snow/skiing.

As Global warming increases the temp. the polar ice caps melt, which causes freezing cold water to enter the Gulf. The Gulf stream absorbs a lot of sun energy and is what warms the US east coast and most of Europe, Asia. As the Gulf gets colder, so do these areas.

mk2 although your article may have come from a credible source. You cannont discount the effects of CO2. It a greenhouse gas. And what that means is that it insulates(traps heat) our planet. So more CO2 = more heat.

More heat gives all the effects dedscribed above. (see crystals post)

You can actually draw some interesting parallels with the planet Venus. Almost identical in planetary make up but its atmosphere is mostly CO2, which has resulted in surface temperatures of nearly 500 celcius or 900f. The amount of CO2 we are releasing as a race could have implications on a planetary scale. Our problem is its very hard to model what might happen due to earth being ever so slightly complex.

Due to a lack of knowledge on the subject i cant really put an argument for or against global warming. But we REALLY should be thinking about it more!

 
Uhh... 30 years? I'd be like at my 40s-45s. That's not SO fucked up. I'd be more pissed, if it would happen in the next 5-10 years
