Bindings

Aight, so I got some Rossi Scratch 120 bindings and they're not working right. They keep releasing in dangerous situations even though I think the DIN is right, and I currently have a broken thumb because of it (one popped mid-air on a 3 and caused me to land real fucked up, as many here have probably experienced). They don't seem to click in well... they usually go up halfway and then I have to lift my foot up and shake it once or twice to get them to go up all the way... maybe that's normal for this binding but I've never seen it. My stats:

6'1

155 pounds

DIN 8

Salomon Thrusters in a 171, mounted 4cm back from chord

Nordica Supercharger Ignition boots

I ski them pretty hard, but they fall off even when I'm just goofing around and not fucking up

It was done by Ski Rack in Burlington, I assume so but I honestly don't know enough about bindings to give you an accurate answer.

Aight, I'll definitely up it to... I donno, 9? No one thinks the way they click in is the problem, though? I'm basically trying to figure out if my bindings are shit or if I've simply adjusted them wrong.

8 is right on for you stats. Im 6'2", 175lbs and a 3+ skier, and according to the din sheet at work, I should be a 9. I usually will turn them up a bit thought. Sounds to me like your forward pressure is off. Take em to the shop and explain you problem.

Do not go cranking your din without knowing anything, I don't get the people who say the din is too low without even knowing a BSL.

From what you are describing it sounds like a forward pressure issues, I have seen it happen on the PX/Axial series where the lift tab that adjusts forward pressure has skipped back a tooth or two. I would take it back to your shop or another tech and get them to double check it for you.

The other issue you may be having is build-up on the bottom of your boot, before clicking in make sure the heel and toe are clean. A combination of these two may have led to your pre-releasing issues.

Well, I don't know what forward pressure on a binding is, but I'll take it to the shop and tell them what you've told me. I need to have my boots adjusted slightly for shinbang anyways. Thanks all.

My bad, I actually don't know a ton about bindings. I just thought 8 seemed a little low for his stats, I didn't mean for him to crank it or anything, but it is something to possibly consider.
