Bindings - STH 16 vs. Rossi Scratch 140 PIVOT

Alright, so I'm taking the Z12's off my skis because they are big pieces of sh|t. I was at my non-skiier friend's house a few days ago and found a brand new pair of turntable scratch 140 bindings (FUCKIN SICK). I have no clue how they got there but anyways....my question is this, which are better bindings between the STH 16 and the Scratch 140's I found? I'm talking which have better retention, safety, and bombproofness.

Please post opinions

I have both the STH 12 and P12's on my lizzies and bacons respectivly. If your charging or riding pow i go with he P12's any day...they seem to pop off only when you want them to and are alot easier to get into when your clogged with snow. The one thing i do notice that i am not a big fan of is that they don't "click" into place like some of the other bindings im used to.

The salomons on the other hand are alot lighter if thats something that is a big deal to you.

If i had to pick one or the other i would say i like my 4 year old p12s better than the STH12's i bought brand new for close to $300 this year.

IMO The STH12s are signifigantly lighter than the P12's but when they are on your feet its not too big a difference. If the weight is not an issue i would go p12's

retention and safety is pivots, bombproof the sth 16 would probably treat ya better. Pivots are a better binding in my opinion but they have a habit of trashing breaks on switch falls. I'm assuming both 16 and 14 fall within a good din range for you?

please go read the memo I wrote about bindings adjustment, when it comes to bindings, dont talk unless you know what you are tlaking about.

Do you know you aresupposed to clean your boots before clicking them in your binding in order to make it safe for you???

and he never talked about sth 12 wich are a totally different toe piece design tehn the 12 din version.

^^^Man on a Mission.

With that in mind im only going to offer my personal experience with pivots.

I have broken one brake with pivots on two pairs of skis(one park and one all mountain so both i land switch on) over a total of 3 years so this switch landing and breaking stuff i have not experienced. As for durability. Again I think my pivots might live longer than me, especially my pivot 14's that seem to have a metal toe casing. My only complaint is the weird wiggling of the heel peice that comes about after riding them for a while on both pairs. It doesnt wiggle while your are in the binding. I was actually considering trading jesters for sth's to put on my dumonts, but i may still trade, just probably not to put on my 100% park ski. maybe sth16 for ep/hellbent/JJ(whichever i decide for next year)

Maybe Mr. Bindings above might have an answer for the wiggling.
