Bindings on hellbents

so i have a pair of 179 hellbents, and im debating what bindings to put on em'. i have a pair of marker 1800 comps, and a pair of rossi FKS 15's....

Eeek...neither?

I've heard the FKS tears out easy cause of the tight heel pattern, and the markers...well, they're markers, and therefore should never be used on any ski.

Sell the markers and grab a pair of High-end Salomons or Deadbolts, those would probably do best.

out of the 4 people i know(including myself) who have had/have hellbents 3 used fks. id say go for those.

yeah i was planning on using the fks, but andy mahre uses the marker just thought id ask. and fuck salomon, i judst dont like the way they feel and i have had a bad experience.

Clearly weren't on a high-end Solly, the 916 (and other comparable, metal bindings) are solid as all get out.

yes i was on a high end pair. a friend is on thier am team and gave me a pair of the heavy duty ones. i still thought they felt a bit wierd

if you like the feel of the FKS then go with them

but i would say go with the deadbolts since u dont like salomon and the deadbolt is the only other binding with a larger screw pattern

^^^i havent heard anything about the deadbolt. i just thought it was a binding in the proggress, as in something 4frnt needed to modify. but apperently not...??

Oh word, I like the FKS best too, but there are some skis I just wouldn't mount it on (JP vs. Julien, for one) because the likelihood of tearing them out is too great. I just know that the Hellbent is a soft core ski and very wide, so that and a tight screw pattern can be trouble. Just something to consider.

He's wrong.

Proper mounting is essential no matter what ski/binding you're using, but some skis and bindings, when put together have a higher chance of problems occuring, it's just a fact.

Bindings with tight screw patterns are nice because they do very little to disrupt the natural flex of the ski, but the trade off is that on cetain skis they tend to be easier to tear out. Skis that are very wide are prime examples, the increased torque put on the binding/ski interface causes more stress, and therefore a higher likelihood of a rip-out, particularly on skis with soft cores.

ha word.

1. drill holes with correct drillbit and use a jig.

2. drip elmers in holes

3. wait a few minutes.

4. screw in bindings

youre done.

right....... but with a rockerd POW ski how often do you think your "on edge" with enough torque to pull a binding out?

I have homies wqith ARG's and pontoons who rode them all winter with p18's (fks) on both pairs no problems, oh yeah and there is also these things called HELI COILS.

wat about those new markers...meant for park skiing? i think they are called the "duke" or something like that. i am probably entirley wrong though...

Well I dunno...how often do people put JPs (also a pow ski) on edge hard enough to rip turntable heels out? And it's not only that, think about landing bad on a big air and the stress that causes. ARGs aren't very soft skis either. I'm just saying it's something to think about.

And I'm well aware of heli-cois, but having to go that route after ripping out a binding, and moving both mounts is a pain in the ass, not to mention that it makes the ski significantly weaker. I've ripped out a PX heel with heli-coils in place, and that heel has alot wider pattern than the turntable.

Deadbolts suck... i have seen sooo many deadbolts destroyed.

I know a lot disagree, but high end sollies are allright, I still like any sort of turntable heel look or rossi i can get my hands on better than anything else though

yea, yea, no. But i never skied mine out of tyhe pow, people tear out of that ski becuase it has a fuinny core, and its alot easier to get your jjs hard on edge than a pair of ROCKERED k2's, I'm just saying go with the fks
