Bindings mounted backwards

so recently i bought a new pair of 09 anthemsso i went to the local ski sop to have them mounted little did i know that the old fart working there did not know the tips from tails. i know they are perfectly semetrical but really?and on top of this they waxed the bases without scraping them right over the perfect factory was for god knows why , i was told for protection but it made no sense when they were brand new.
has anyone else had the bindings mounted backwards , or am i the only one ?

You said it yourself:

They are 100% symmetrical, the sidecut, the flex, everything, they will be fine.

Don't worry about the wax, factory wax sucks anyway; they did you a favor.

nah the edges in the tails have a gap in the very back but the edges wrap around the tips without a gap so they are less likely to crack if they are mounted forwards

i dont like how some shops dont understand the new styles of mounting bindings (ie. center mt., twins, etc.)

they were scenter mounted but i got the skis alone for 180 (steal of a deal) but htey gave me 120$ store credit so i can live with them being backwards theres not gonna be a difference in riding but it still pissed me off

that sucks they got it around the wrong way. aside from the tiny seam in the tail edge as others have there won't be a difference. did you tell them specifically what way you wanted them mounted? it doesn't hurt to stick a bit of tape on and draw on an arrow to the front. that way it should be impossible for the shop monkey to fuck up.

wax is storage wax. scrape it off and wax them again before using them and you'll have a primo finish. factory wax is usually shit. the coating of wax stops the bases drying out over your summer

well dude you always wax brand new skis, the not scraping i dont get, but the waxing is pretty standard. honestly if i was some old guy who didnt keep up with his shit i can see how this happens. if what the guy said about the edges is true then take them back, and politely tell them why they just fucked up your skis and ask for a new pair, or something along those lines...

I have a worse story for you.

I bought some thrusters a while back and was mounting them up at the resort i work at... i was talking to a buddy while doing it and ended up putting the jig on backwards some how... i drilled all the holes and mounted the binding before looking down and realizing they were on backwards on a non-symmetrical ski.

Any time you bring skis into a shop to get mounted, put a piece of masking tape on the topsheet with a line drawn on the tape marking where you want your midsole to be. And if there's any chance the tips might be confused with the tails, put another piece of tape toward the tips saying "tip" or "front." Always try to make ski mounting as idiot-proof as possible.

Or just spend fifty bucks, buy the drill bits and basic tuning equipment and mount your own skis. It's kinda fun.

This is true. Its not hard at all as long as you PAY ATTENTION! Learn from my mistakes haha. Its fun and easy if you take your time and stay focused

i wish i woulda done this . but its a little too late now.
but since im getting discounts and 120 bucks to anything in their store ill deal with it
im not the type that really bangs up their skis so i think the edging will hafta do but if anything happend during the season ill take them back for sure

if you just got them mounted in the summer the left the wax on there to keep your bases from oxidizing during the summer. and no the factory wax is no where near perfect. the first thing you do when you get new skis is pound wax into them. learn something about bases.

Dude, I think you are missing the point. Your skis may be destroyed and they are trying to buy you out cheap instead of having to replace them. Symmetrical isn't the only thing that matters. You need to call up Line and ask them. Sometimes they use different materials at the tip and tail to make them tortionally stiffer. I'm not saying that they are for sure, but they may be designed to be stiffer at the tail than at the tip. If you ski on them mounted the way they are now, they may not ski the way they were designed to and you may hate the way they feel. It's not too late. A free pair of Oakleys is not worth having you skis ruined. Call up line and ask them what they think or send them an email.

I would suggest Andy or Eben, one of the Engineering Ninjas. Seriously, don't cave. If line tells you that you shouldn't ski the Anthems that way, have the shop replace them. If the flex is the same either way and the only thing is how the top sheet is mounted, should be fine.

what are these twin tippers yall r talkin bout? Are thoes them tiney ones for the snowboard park?

Anyway.... yea they did a favor by rewaxing the skis for you.... factory wax is really crappy dosn't really last more than a half a day. So by going over it with some real wax your skis will last a little longer....

your not alone the "old fart" at my shop did the same thing with my invaders

thats why i always specify with a sticky note or something front or back so that they don't fuck them up i've heard to many horror stories

a shop did that with my first pair when i was young

it was a pair of k2 juvies

they mounted it the wrong way and its not a symmetrical ski so they realized the screwed up and procceded to mount it the right gave me the skis. they also didnt fill in the hole from wherre they screwed up the mounting so thats how water got into the ski. and then the bindings rip or of the ski and there are the obvious srill wholes that show it was mounted backwards. they denied that they did the mounting

i ended up getting a new pair when they guy tried to remount new bindings and drilled right through the ski

Haha shop mess up stories, i got one

I got my k2 silencers and I told him i wanted it CENTER MOUNTED. I looked has he was writing it down on the info sheet that he is suppose to give to the shop tech whom mounts my skis. and it was clear when it said center mounted.

Either the people there are illiterate or are just plain dumb, they mounted my k2 silencers standard. i was like what the fuck are you stupid? So i demanded that they remount them, but they did atleast do it for free, but now i have holes in them =P..

no when i think about the edge ordeal i think im gonna just go ask for them to replace themand it might be possivle for the bend in eace side to be different so thanks for your help everyone

allrighty this thread is pissing me off. any symetrical ski can be mounted whichever way you want. the fucking graphics are even symetrical! you can either have it say anthem across the tips or have it say line its your choice. The same is true of invaders either way you mount it when you look at the tips the picture appears to be facing the right direction. and also judging by people standards here im willing to bet that half of the 08 anthem owners have their ski mounted incorrectly or backwards cuz the graphic is a complete reflection. who knows maybe some terrible awful retarded shop mounted someones left 08 anthem backwards and the right one correctly! oh no! seriously people it doesnt matter. and regarding the silencers there is a such thing as core center and dead center. if all you said was center mount em bro. that may not have been enough clarification.sorry for the rant

this shop does not owe you anything they didnt do anything wrong

True statement. They skis are 100% symmetrical, same materials, same flex, same everything. You can cry about your graphics being backwards but seriously dude, big fucking deal. You're right about the edges meeting at the tail, but even if that gap is in the front, unless you hit something super hard with the tips of your skis nothing will happen.

Holy shit thank you for saying everything I was going to. What don't you kids understand, have you never seen 08 invaders with one pink and one blue part of the graphic forward? Wow the tip is fully wrapped. Look at other brands, neither the tips or tails are fully wrapped by the edge. Nothing is going to happen. If you call up Line they are going to have a good laugh when you say your shop mounted your anthems backwards. The shop owes you nothing. The ski have no noticeable difference. You cannot demand new skis because the shop did nothing wrong. You are lucky you got $120 store credit. The edge is not going to fall out. My sister has 08 invaders and she had both mounted "backwards" so the pink was in front. At least you know they are yours so if some one steals them you can prove they are yours. Half the kids in this thread have no idea what they are talking about. I am pretty sure that most symmetrical skis have the same flex in the tip and tail, hence why they are called SYMMETRICAL. At least all of Line's symmetrical skis are. The only one I can think of is the Wall that has a stiffer tail but I am not sure. But Volkl also has a line for mounting behind center so what can you expect?. I have nothing against Volkl, but why mount a symmetrical ski behind center and why have a different flex in the tip and tail? I don't know but my friend was dumb enough to mount his walls behind center.

if it really bothers you that they're mounted wrong complain to the shop and make them either fix it or replace the skis. AS for the wax though. You should ALWAYS wax your skis at least once before skiing on them. It's good for your bases and will keep them running faster longer.

my anthems are mounted "backwards". Tip gap's in the front and im heading into season 3 with them...

This almost happened to me with my 09 ep pros. i was the shop dropping them off and the guy want to size up the brake width because he thought i was stupid and got the wrong width. well i had the right width (which i already knew) but to check the guy rested the bindings on my skis to look and he put them facing the wrong way. i explained to him how this was wrong and he looked at me and said "oh... really? ok." I was really nervous but in the end that shop didnt even have a wide enough jig for my skis so i ended up taking them to a shop that sells the ep pro and thus know where to mount them.
