Binding choices

Yo yoyo

just picked up some new Surface Daily skis, most likely going to be my pow/ crud ski in utah, 191 length 120 under foot

wondering what bindings you guys recommend that arent super expensive that will do a great job with those skis

I have a pair of Marker Griffon 13 and Marker Dukes, wondering if i should stick which marker, maybe a jester, or how Look is, or other companies, just let me know

If you plan on skiing hard and catching air, don’t go marker. Sounds like you rip since you have 191s. The sideways spring in the toe makes the toe weak and it doesn’t release as well as pivots. I’ve hurt my knee in crud due to poor release in the icy toe on griffons, and the toe piece broke off after 2 seasons. Pivots are worth the investment.

If you already have the markers off skis definitely sticks with them. No reason to spend more money than you have to.

A lot of people here don’t like markers but they have the exact same elasticity as the attacks that everyone seems to love.

It’s not all about the elasticity. The markers are all plastic and are prone to break on hard landings. Durability of a metal binding is the biggest selling point of the pivot or the STH. People on NS hate marker for a reason. They break under any serious use.

Attacks are all plastic, Pivot toes are all plastic unless you have the 18s, sth heel tracks are plastic. Plastic isn’t the issue. Yeah I wouldn’t buy markers new but I also wouldn’t take them off skis or hesitate to mount them if I had a pair unmounted.

I'd just use the bindings you have already dude. Unless you are planning on selling them or have unlimited money anyways. Then I'd go with some Pivots since it sounds like you go hard in the pow. I like the Attack line myself but I think they really belong in the park and on groomers but not really anywhere else. I feel like with pow and BC skiing that weight is less of a big deal than it is doing switch ups and such (other than the touring aspect of it).

+1 for using your Markers until they break then buy something else. I think the Marker design guys shit the bed
