Binder question/help

Ok, heres the deal. I am 5'11 about 190 lbs and I have been skiing park on rossi axial 14s(pivot) for the past 4 years. They are all busted up now, and places are refusing to mount them for me, which is a sign that I need new binders. the problem is that my skis have also broken, and I opted for new skis before the new binders. Now I have literally NO money, but I do have a pair of axial 10 (pivots) on my brothers old skis that are in prime condition.

I am a very aggressive skier, and had no problems with the 14s, but they were probobly too much. 12s seem like they would work as well.

on the 14s I kept the din at about 10, and had no problems whatsoever.

My question is aimed only at people that know what they are talking about:

Do you guys think the 10s would work, keeping the din at about 9? Are the springs just too weak for me? I put the dins up and snapped in, and pressed around the carpet a bit and had no problems, but I'm not sure about the legitmacy of this.

if you put the dins on 9 they will blow up into ten million pieces so be careful. but really id personally look for a higher din binding or a new shop. you would be better on spending the money to get a higher din binding and not worrying about breaking the 10's. or just sell the 10's towards money for some 12's or 14's. also look around on here, ive seen some 12s for sale recently. hope this helps.

If you have no money, You could mount the 10's up then save some money - pick up some old 12's or 14's again and remount in the same holes

Or you could mount the 14's yourself.

https://newschoolers.com/web/forums...n't do it if your not mechanically inclined.

I realized that after I posted it. = (

I have mounted my own for years, the hardest part was always just getting them lined up right. Which is why I bookmarked the link.

A quick Google search should turn something up on the actual mounting part.

I guess if you don't have the tools, jig and bits. Don't try it.

Sorry for the waste of space.

I am still on my pain meds for my ankle surgery, kinda out of it.

What are the issues with durability of mounting in the same hole? I know of people doing it, but it has never seemed like a great idea to me. would I have to helicoil them?

I have done it. It worked out just dandy, just put some glue in the holes to help out. Ask Silence though because he is a tech if I am not mistaken, and that's where you should get your advice.

Depends on the ski. On a wood core ski you will be fine(I have done it a few times), but I still would not recommended it. However dont even try it on foam core or bamboo skis, they will pull right out.

I am mounting 07/08 surface watch life 183s.. I just don't want to be popping out everywhere, especially on large landings and such.
