I'm trying to get something to do a lot of urban and dirt jumps. I've rode 20" BMX for awhile and would like to step up to a MTB frame. Any ideas on a good starter frame and components. I'd be doing a lot of stair sets onto concrete and gaps, so I need a pretty solid frame. help a bruva out.

norco and azonic make some pretty dope jumping frames, may not be burely enough depending on how much you way though. the p series are a super good value, if you wanna get a complete bike that's a pretty good bet.

yo dont go to mtb... stick with bmx thts where its at and everything like stairs n jumping and grinding is much better and easier

p2 should be sufficient. norco 125 is uber sweet for trashin around urban sessions and holds up fine in the dirt.

DONT GET A SPECIALIZED. i guess its just my personal opinion but i fucking hate the new p.series, depends what kind of shops you have but look into smaller companies i.e. planet-x, BMW and whatnot

haha^ you p3owndeeeded me.....i'm not sure about getting a frmae and building or buying a complete...kinda leaning toward a frame and buy components. anybody know anything about fetish freeride or something like that ? nice looking frames.

hahaha, you want a bike that can do everything, basically. xc bikes are totally different than dirt jump bikes dude

2 of my friends have P2s, and I have a P3, and they have been completely amazing bikes in our dirt jump park. I've done some very stupid things with that bike, and it always comes out okay, even if I don't.

just stay with bmx. i do both and it is definitely not worth all the money to mountain bike. dirt jumping on bmx is a lot more fun.

I ride MX (you know twist the throttle) and I've just never felt really comfortable on a 20". And to jacknut up there, I don't want something made for everything, I want something halfway versatile that can allow me to multi-task a little bit. "stop the hate, spread the love."

a piece of advice :the specialized p2 is the biggest poser bike ever. don't get me wrong, i understand that some ppl who ride it are good, and some are amazing, but half the people who buy it do so because it looks good and they wanna look good emselves. if you're gonna buy a p-series, get the p-3 cuz its def worth the up in $$. if ur doing a lot of free ride stuff like stair gaps and drops, maybe u should go for a fully or something. what's ur price-range? if u want freeride bikes, theres a few. the banshee chaparral is a great bike, and can range from anywhere between 1400 to 4700 US. for norco, the ppl who put down norco bikes up there ^ are gayasses. the norco shore series is great for extreme freeride and ranges from 2300 to 4100 Canadian. if you're leaning towards specialized, the big hit is great. if u've never ridden a giant bike, i reccomend em, and for what you want, you can either go for the reign series, which ranges from 2100 to 4000 bucks, or the faith series, which goes from 2400 to 4100. personally, i wouldn't reccomend santa cruz bikes because the geometry makes the cockpit feel really cramped. if you want a hard tail, there's obviously the p-series, but theres a few others that you might like as well. there's the giant STP, which goes for either 700, 1200, or 1000 if you want a single speed model. the norco hard tails worth looking at are as follows: Sasquatch - 1200, Manik - 1400, Rampage - 1600, and Torrent - 2200 (all in Canadian). the banshee morphine goes anywhere between 600 and 3700 american, and there are 4 different models of it. oh there's also kona bikes. the good kona fullys are the stinky and the coiler, which range from 1700 to 4700 american. their hardtails can go anywhere from 800 to 1200 american, but i warn you that these can also be serious poser bikes (if you're good and you use a kona hard, don't get mad - same deal as with the p2). any other questions about bikes or componetns, PM me.

agreed, i love my p2. Its a super solid frame with good components. I have only ever heard of 1 person who managed to break one, and he did it doing a 25 foot bunker drop. But the thing is he tacoed the tires, ripped off the de-railer and fucked the handle bars but still didnt do anything to the frame

instead of getting a compromise bike that's kinda bad at xc and kinda bad at jumping just get a more xc oriented full suspension (if it's in the budget) which will be mad fun on the trails and use your bmx bike for jumping. You'll have a lot more fun than using a halfway inbetween bike that is awkward on the trail and in the air. And my friend who races 4x rode the same norco 4hun for two season in a row without any problems, and he used it all year round as his urban/jumping bike too.

anybody ride a Kona stuff? Valuable opinions from people w/ experience and not "kona's are poser bikes" would be good. I was looking at it, I'm thinking I'll build a rear derailleur DJ bike w/ disks, front and back. I'm not really wanting an XC because that is not really what I'm looking to do. Anybody got any components for sale?

my friend had a kona stinky and he beat it up so much but the thing was like indestructable. He was going pretty big on it and the only problem he had was with his derailer but not the frame or ne thing
