im on the east coast (nh) looking for a wider ski, that can still rip the groomers and i can throw around.

need opinions on both. im 6'2" and about 172lbs.

yo homie i'm 6'3" and 200 pounds and the jjs are the sickest and most legit ski i have ever used in my life. they made me ski like the skier in my head...its been amazing. just do it.
 
BG is going to be much more directional than the JJ. I would look more towards the caylor from our line.

JJ is going to be lighter, faster edge to edge, much more turny.

Caylor is going to be more comfortable at speed, will float better, and better at busting through crud and manky snow.
 
what if i went smaller like the jeffrey's or vicik's for a better edge to edge on hardpacked?
 
Jeffrey would be the ski I would suggest. Definitely better edge hold, faster edge to edge. Still wide enough to float well and bust through crud, but lighter and going to be more playful than the Caylor.
 
Vicik is more of a traditional ski, so it wants to be driven and isn't going to want to be jibby or anything like that.

im going to look at the jeffrey's and viciks more closely. im liking the jeffrey's more and more everytime i see them.
 
If it helps you make your decision, I have owned 2 pairs of JJ's in my time and now own Caylors and as of this season Jeffreys... honestly the JJ's have always been a favourite ski of mine, so this decision is an impossible one to fuck up. You'll do well either way and either way I'd be willing to bet you will have no regrets.

Imo the build quality on On3p consistently outshines most everything I see coming out of a factory on a shop wall, and the company and the people behind it are worth supporting because this is the kind of enterprise I like seeing succeed in this industry. The personal touch is they know who you are, who they are making the skis for when they put them in the press. I find that to be awesome. Kind of a vote with your wallet thing, and you get the highest quality product for doing so. As an added bonus, given the small numbers of skis they produce every year and the corresponding materials cost and hours put into each pair, the price charged is pretty ridiculously cheap.

any other skis similar to the jeffrey's? sir francis bacons are not good on hardpacked right?
 
i have narrowed my choices down to the jj's, caylor's, tst's and jeffrey's. jeffrey's are my number one choice.

i have decided im not really looking for a wider ski as i will not be needing a ski that wide. i wanna stay between a 98-110 under the foot. i just decided i do not need a ski that wide because i am about 70% of the time on hardpacked. the other 30% im in the trees, off the trail, out in the woods in my town, or if we are lucky with a pow day.

any advice/opinions on the tst's or jeffrey's or another ski you would recommend would be helpful
 
i was in the same situation, trying to decide between the JJ's, TST's and Jeffreys.

If you are going to be switch at all, don't go with the TST.

If you wanna make big GS like turns, go with the Jeffrey, JJ's turn radius is really short.

If you want float and maneuverability in the trees, go for the JJ.

If you want an all round ski with the best hardpack performance, go Jeffrey.

If you are never skiing switch and want a more traditional mount further back on the ski, go TST.
