Bill O'Reilly & Jon Stewart Debate.

hahaha i think your the one that needs to get your head out of your ass... whenever stewart makes a point that completely dismisses o'reilly.. o'reilly interrupts him and doesn't let him go any further.. o'reillys debate technique is far from respectfully.. although he is a very intelligent guy who gets his ratings from said debate style.

no, you completely missed the point you jackass. stewart was arguing the point that the whole coverage of common attending the white house was unnecessary as it's not a big deal at all. o'reilly firmly didn't believe that as he's an old hardcore christian, which is fine and shouldn't even matter to all you. instead you're all being jackasses celebrating it as some sort of democratic victory when in reality it's such an insignificant story to begin with. stewart just went on his show because o'reilly wanted him to and it was a great way to bring exposure to another and bigger issue which was getting assault rifles banned and off the streets.

I think the issue everyone has with anything O'Reilly does is that he is completely inflexible in his views. He doesn't examine his beliefs, he just holds them and refuses to budge. Every "debate" he is part of is simply him repeating his belief louder and louder. He doesn't even consider other arguments.

How is that guy even on TV, let alone has his own show? Say's a lot about America that that is a reality?!
Would he be given a job on the BBC? hmmmmm ... No.
He's just an idiot - and a terrible broadcaster...... ? He literally contributes Nothing to this planet.......

No - compare quality of broadcasters......
He's a terrible broadcaster, a terrible journalist...... Regardless of left or right, or anything he stands for - he's just shit on camera and shit at debating anything... it's literally painful to watch. He simply should not be on tv in the first place, let alone allowed to have guests on...

to be fair he's not a reporter he's a talk show host on a news station. he deals with current events but his job isnt to report straight facts its to provide an opinion on what he feels is important. i dont think its fair to criticize him for having an opinion. he deserves his show just as much as that blowhard olbermann deserves his. however, that being said i am not a fan of fox news and disagree with almost everything oreilly says. i feel that while he is undoubtedly intelligent his excessive pride leads to him be completely inflexible in his arguments which can be frustrating when watching him debate. he also tends to make things very personal. like when he had the son of that 9/11 victim on and accused him of dishonoring his father because he didnt support the war. people should be able to talk politics without making it personal

So basically to sum up what you just said -
He's about the most unprofessional person ever seen on TV, or in fact - in life....
I agree.
A talk show host should ask pertinent questions, then let his guests be judged on his/her answers by the audience watching - not him.... otherwise he might as well just ask them round to his house for a chat...
Or are people who watch this guy not interested in what the guests have to say?

This.

They just like to see their opinion dominate. Sure, there are times when O'Riely looks like a dick to them, but whatever, he yelled the loudest and tomorrow night he'll have some sheepish guest to slaughter all over again.

As far as viewers not caring about the interviewed person, other shows do it too if you're a fan of the daily show or colbert report youve seen it for humor instead of with aggression.

i agree that he is often very disrespectful to his guests and unprofessional. thats why i dont spend a great deal of time watching him. i would hope his viewers would want to hear what his guests have to say but judging by how he has a great deal of viewers despite the fact that he treats his guests poorly much of the time it seems unlikely. i wish he would be more professional in his arguments because i think it would make for much more interesting and thoughtful debate but the bottom line is its his show and its a very successful show he can do what he wants.

when did i ever say that it was a democratic victory? your point was that the debatable was done "well and respectfully" while in fact it was done the opposite. to o'reilly being a old hardcore christian shouldn't matter to me... well in fact it doesn't but when this hardcore christian has a nationally televised show and can brainwash millions of people into thinking a certain way while not agreeing with an opposite view let alone even talk about it... i have a problem with that. and o'reilly wanted him on the show because he loves demeaning people that don't agree with his views on certain issues (much like you) and stewart has a history of slandering o'reilly on the daily show. the bigger issue that you said was the whole point of this publicity stunt, was one that stewart brought up and o'reilly quickly dismissed and interrupted stewart while making. so "no, you completely missed the point you jackass."

wouldn't go as far as saying o'reilly is respectful. I will say that he did let jon say his most important point and listened though, which is a big step in bills social skills!

brainwashing millions of people? people are not blank slates, learning everything from turning on the television and landing on his show. people tune into his program because, sadly, he expresses views that a ton of american's agree with. do you honestly think stewart is going to change his mind? no, that's not who he is. o'reilly's stance wasn't strong so of course he's going to run in circles without providing legitimate responses like stewart was, but in terms of BOTH of them allowing one another to speak and get their points out, which clearly happened, it was a well done debate and it was entertaining which is all bill's program is- ENTERTAINMENT.

hahaha god your ignorance amazes me... sadly some people are blank slates and listen to o'reilly avidly. you would have to pretty much be a blank slate to listen to his contradictory bullshit. no never once did i say that stewart was going to change o'reilly's mind. stop putting words in my mouth. a nuclear holocaust wouldn't even change his mind and thats whats sad about o'reilly. in the case of them both being about to speak how about at 1:02, 1:32, 1:58, 2:38 where o'reilly is talking and stewart asks if he may ask a question and o'reilly rudely interrupts and asks if he may ask a question, 3:54, 4:08... thats just in the part 1. if you would like me to keep going i kindly will. :19, :47, :58, 1:04, 2:19, 2:38, and 3:26 (which is probably the funniest thing he says in this video). if fact he once interrupted the president of the united states 37 times on prime time television right before the super bowl in a 7 min. interview. the president of the united states.

I applaud Jon for his open-mindedness on the topic they were discussing. However, the very antics of these political commentators getting exposure is constantly driving a spear down the American people.
Basically the more time we have these people showing us that we are either left or right, right or wrong, good or bad, the less time we have to look at an issue, contextualize it, and decide from a neutral standpoint. We are constantly bombarded with talking points on issues that few people are even affected by. It's our destructive appetite for blindly being republican or democrat simply because we allow our personal bias to override our brains.
Albeit, the Daily Show is amazing when taken as a form of comedy, nothing more, it still can be detrimental when looked as a guideline for how we should interpret political issues. How often do we get a legitimately factual political issue without anyone telling us how it should pertain to us. Shouldn't we be the ones deciding how it impacts us?

Skiierman is exactly right. It is entertainment. Do you know Bill? No you don't. You know his TV persona which is there to keep ratings up. You SHOULD be enraged by the millions of people that keep him paid and on tv. That is the correct avenue for your anger.

Nice to hear it in full context.

I find this hilarious for a multitude of reasons.

Number one, its a poetry slam. In all the infinite problems of the world, this is what Fox goes after? They could focus on a Republican controlled house that promised to be all about jobs jobs jobs, but instead has passed next to nothing to improve unemployment. They could be focused on two parties that have failed to make any progress towards the debt ceiling debate. They could have focused on a war in Afghanistan that is becoming increasingly pointless, yet incredibly costly and contributing immensely to the deficit. Yet instead they focus on Common, one of the most harmless rappers in all of hip hop, a guy who did GAP commercials of all things, and who literally came to the White House, read 5 minutes of poetry, and left.

Number two, who else noticed Bill O compare Fox not once, but TWICE to Comedy Central when it came to a "diversity of opinions". One is a comedy network that precedes Stewarts show with a cartoon about kids in Colorado, and who follows their comedy with a show mocking internet videos. The other is supposed to be a well respected and diverse news/opinion network. Perhaps O'Reilly should spend some more time focused on presenting news, instead of comparing himself to a network that has 1 hour of comedy based loosely around politics and current events.

Number three, along the lines of what Mitch said. Why do so many Americans care so much about two political commentators? Why cant they focus more on the actual issues, and forming their own opinions, instead of "Beck vs Olbermann, Stewart vs O'Reilly" etc. This country cares far to much about what one talking head in a box yelling at a bunch of other talking heads in boxes on a screen, and far too little about unfiltered actual information.

i am conservative... i am completely outnumbered... backup i need backup come in red leader
na just kidding i dont care enough to get heated over an online debate about politics, simply because the outcome is always unproductive and too much energy is wasted on anger through the internet.
can i get an amen to that?

I don't see how this is a conservative/liberal debate. It's talking heads or rather one talking head blowing up what should be a non-issue.

Being on the O'Reilly side of this debate has nothing to do with being a conservative or a liberal; it is a matter of being a logical, reasonable human being or an ignorant cunt.

whats the difference between bill o'reilly and barney?

one is a dinosaur with prehistoric beliefs and the other is purple

are you trolling or just retarded?
He doesnt support cop killers. even in the song that FOX was quoting about him talking about murder they cut it off before he says something to the effect of "but no we shouldn't do that cause it doesnt help our kids have a better future"
