My campus has a huge bike problem, so I am a big proponent of walking. I go to school at USC in downtown Los Angeles. The biggest hill within a 10 block radius of campus is a small 4 ft berm on the side of a quad, making it very easy to bike everywhere. However 90% of student housing is within an easy 10-15 min walk to middle of campus (not that bad in my opinion). Everyone still insists on riding cruiser bikes all the time, and are about as inconsiderate as possible. This occurs not only while riding, but wheelchair ramps and building entrances are consistently blocked by people who don't care where they park their bike. Campus security frequently impounds student's bicycles for doing so. This leads to incessant whining about how "bad" they are because they don't let "ME ride and park MY BIKE wherever and however I WANT TO". This escalated until last year some jokers decided to hold a "protest" where they tried to cause congestion on campus by all riding their bikes at the same time. About 10 people showed up who I now regard as some of the biggest idiots on camps. /rant.
