Bike helmet for skiing?

Is there really a huge difference between ski helmets and bike helmets cause I usually just take out everything and rock a toque under my helmet but was just wondering if it's a big deal? I personally like the fit of my bike helmet better. And If anyone else uses a bike helmet let me know.

there probably isnt too big of a difference protection wise, but it might be cold.

My friend uses a Protec skate helmet. He just rocks a beanie under it. I tried it and it wasn't that bad, just kinda cold if the temperature drops too low.

^i did this too, when i didnt find my helmet in the morning i just used my protec helmet that i used for bmx, and it was fine wasnt that cold with a beanie under.

Wearing a hat under a helmet does take away some of the protection in some cases. I think there was a good thread on this a while back.

The R.E.D trace is meant to go both ways so I don't see why a bike helmet would not work.

Yeah I usually ski in a bike helmet. I just throw a beanie under it and Im good. I would highly reccomend this one, as I have it and love it.

i wear a POC for both sometimes (usually something else skiing, but almost always the receptor bug for biking).

keep in mind that many bike helmets are single impact, whereas most helmets designed for snow are made to take multiple hits before being compromised.

for the most part, this statement is very false. There are a few multiple impact helmets, but most snow helmets are single impact.

I only juse my skate helmet with a thigt beany under. it is warmer and looks cooler. Have had to heavy bails in it an it holds up just fine.

I use a bike helmet every time i ski. Many of my friends laugh or make fun of me for it and i dont quite understand. I think wearing the bike helmet makes me the coolest guy out on the slopes. Give me a bike helmet and some takis and it will be a good day out on the powder. There really is no difference between them.

There is really no difference between ski helmets and bike helmets. After I get off work as a junior park ranger, I saddle up my prius and head on up to tahoe to shred some slopes with my bright blue bike helmet. My friends give me a really hard time, but safety is always important. For example, when i get banned from six siege, i put on my bike helmet and take my anger out on those killer slopes while looking saucy the entire time. Here is the perfect helmet everyone should use. Bike helmerts are very safe, and more importantly keep me looking cool on the slopes. There's nothing more romantic then when my boy BubyBubs wears nothing but a bike helmet. #BikeHelmet4Life
