Bigmountain

I do. I grew up skiing on the squaw valley freeride team, but now i get to move out to slc and ski snowbird/alta. Fuck park, slushy spring days are for touring and mountaineering

52 inches in the last 7 days, we have gone to this from around 15 inches total in the village. Looks like another no show sumer.

People who have been skiing for two years are better park skiers than I am. REAL mountains for life!!

well usually I'm a big mountain skier...but this lack of snow in Tahoe has forced me to ski park all year

park when theres no snow, trees when theirs snow. unfortunately i live in maine so its park 85% of the time. i am competing STEFT next year along with some rail jams so i dont know what that makes me? a skier?

big mountain skiing is definitely where it's at...there's finally enough snow in colorado to start hitting some decent natural airs

don't act like your big mountain skiers are "above" park skiers or something like that. skiing is skiing, and have you ever considered that some people just don't have access to big mountain? i live in CNY, a mountain over 1000' vertical is several hours away. the ski patrol at my mountain clip passes if you go out of bounds. we haven't gotten more than 3 or 4 inches at a time this year, and my mountain grooms out most of it anyways. our "glades" are several hundred feet long and hardly ever have enough coverage (there's been dirt showing more often than not this season).

these are the reasons i ski park.

big mountain skiers are above park skiers! its a scientific fact. there are guys that can put it down in the park that can barely ski back to the chairlift. is that really skiing? that is more like fairy gymnastics compared to some hairy burly mountain man hucking their meat over a massive rock face where they could legitimately get FUBARed if they mess up. Im not hating on you, but real skiing is not on the east coast. Why do you all move out west if it was there? not trying to hate, just stating the facts.

Can't believe I'm involving myself in this, but shut up. Who do you think you are... Sorry I can't do any real skiing in Pennsylvania. Some aren't as fortunate as you in their birth location, but still try their asses off to be the best skiers they can be, and the only way to progress with anything here is in the park. (or racing...)

I ski almost entirely big mountain but this is pretty pretentious. Most park skiers I know are great all-round skiers as well, and not everyone is fortunate enough to live in areas where big mountain skiing is really an option. Skiing just involves two sticks, snow, and good times. There is no "real" or "fake" skiing.

Try not to cringe when I say the words but park skiing is simply acrobatics while big mt. skiing is more navigation down a fall line.

Some of the skiing in Cham is really easy, some is fully gnar, the same as a lot of other places. Skiing there doesn't mean anything at all.

you are categorizing all park skiers, saying they can't ski anywhere else. many of us grew up in the east on small hills and, once we grew older, became bored with the groomers and moved to other parts of the mountain i.e the park. i didn't even touch park until after i had been skiing for 7 or 8 years. as i stated in my previous post, you simply can't find powder or tree skiing and out of bounds is completely off limits. dudes throwing double corks or even cork 9s and stomping their shit on landings as hard as concrete isn't real compared to your "hairy bulry mountain men" jumping down rock faces? you need to stop putting labels on skiing. skiing is skiing, it doesn't really matter what you're doing. i am planning on moving out west once i get out of my parents household (i'm still in highschool yeah make fun of me all you want) but until then i have no choice but to ski a shitty east coast HILL.

to californiagrown - because i enjoy skiing big mountain, i just can't all the time. so i clicked on the thread to see some discussion about it or something, only to find some douches sitting on their high horses because they live in an area that enables them to ski big mountain like that.

I hope you realize saying park skiing isn't "real skiing" is a stupid thing to say..... So claiming you ski park doesn't change the fact that
