Biggest tells on level/type of skier?

i always use the age old beard length test. almost always positively correlated to one's deservedness of righteous ski/snowboard respect. (esp. on powder days)
of course the new-school unit of measurement is based on one's dread length, and i have yet to find the conversion rate from beard respect to dread respect.

Legit one: balaclavas

Exposed face = noob

Lower-face masks = better/smarter

Balaclava (+probable under-helmet goggle strap) = ski bo$$

No matter what the body and leg outerwear.

Idk dude, I LOVE the feeling of having my face exposed to the cold air and especially to the pow. None of my friends really wear a balaclava.

there's onlyone thing i noticed... people with nice goggles tend to be locals / people who ski often so they aren't total gapers.

I think its mainly how they carry themselves on the hill. A true skier, park rat, or touring enthusiast is going to treat others with respect, especially the mountain. As gay as that sounds theres something to be said about a true/die hard skier, and that common ground of simplicity we share. Another tall tale sign is,

-how they hold their skis

-If they know how to get thru a lift line (every other/utilize the singles line)

- Overall positivity, they love skiing, doesnt matter weather or conditions

- If they WAX AND TUNE THEIR OWN SKIS!!!!!

-And lastly, how they ski. Is it hard charging, forward in their boots? or laid back, seemingly bored.

the breakdown goes like this: 50% of any skiers ability is obvious from how they speak, 30% can be assumed from how they dress, 15% from who they say is gay or has bad style, and only 5% of a riders skill has anything to do with his actual skiing ability. didnt you guys know that?

I had a skittle suit and I'm not bad. I bust it out every now and then just cause I actually like the colors on it. That and since I've stopped growing, I spend my money on boots, skis, and bindings instead of outerwear. I buy a jacket when my old ones are worn out. I ski with a 4 year old jacket.

You took that real personal just there champ

Its ok, you don't have to defend to us why the only thing you can fuck is a pancake

Sorry, it's just that I usually judge by the way they ski, and jacket color should be the last line of judgement.

Now my contribution:

I think the guys that really are good, for the most part, won't tell you they're good, and they won't tell you that you suck, but they do give you advice. Best skier I'm friends with is the first to answer a question and the last to say something negative about anything. Even bad snow days.
