Biggest pet peeve?

Good friends who come in out of town, say they are stoked to ski, ask them if they are ready, and then this happens:

- Get to the hill at 10 because friend who never skied can't figure out how to put on their boots. They end up sitting into the lodge the whole day.

- Do one run and then wait 10 minutes at the bottom of the lift while they fix their bindings because their foot/knee hurts

- Do 2 runs, get that photo for the gram, get to a prime place on the mountain after traversing, and then say they have to take a shit but refuse to go unless they are in the lodge

- Go back to where we started, they take a shit, say it's 12:30 and then they say, "ah looks like it's beer time"

- Don't do any more runs even though it's primo outside, just drink beer and call it a day

Maybe I need better friends

Team Summit, both the coaches and the kids.

It's already been mentioned by others, but I think it deserves to be on every page of this thread.

Bluetooth speaker is my number 1 by far. Also, when snowboarders do the lift line ground slap thing, it bugs me far more than I'd like to admit. Smoking in lift line is up there for me too.

I think the snowboard lift line ground slap is hilarious. So pointless, and obnoxious but the guy doing it thinks he’s so cool ?

-Buzz kills on any day. Go home we don't want that negativity

-People who talk shit from the lift about beginners trying their best.

-Alternatively, when Jerry and Jerralina and their entire extended family proceed to ride the lift servicing mainly advanced/expert terrain with a single blue exit trail, and these motherfuckers 1) can't get on the lift so they slow it down, 2) fall off and stop the lift (Unless it's a kid. That's OK.), and 3) congregate all across the exit off the chair, so you have to weave. Like come on if you're riding this lift, better not be falling and move the fuck to the side if you're gonna stand and play.

The only time I've ever yelled at someone on the mountain was my last day at Loon last year. Three snowboarders sitting side by side, straight up in the middle of the trail. Even if you knew nothing of mountain etiquette or stopping on the sides, common sense should tell you "hey we're blocking the entire trail". It was so braindead it was almost actually comical

That’s worthy of getting sprayed.

People in the way in general really grinds my gears. Jerries not clearing the lift unloading zone. Jerries on the outer edge of the chair not going left / right to give the middle riders more room while unloading.

Lift line etiquette really pisses me off. I won't ski Brighton in the day anymore because it's so bad there. There's zero alternation, grown-ass adults tramming up the singles line, rope ducking, and the lifties don't even try to stop it.

The brighton heads try to claim it's just "chill vibes bro" but it's really that the average brighton skier is a 25 year old child who never learned to have respect for other people

the other day there was a snowboarder (ofc) standing at the front of the lift line, about to merge, with like 4 groups behind him on his fucking phone. i was like 'dude there are people behind you'. get off ur phone ur snowboarding bro

People who have a bluetooth speaker blasting music from their backpack. You can tell they think it's cool.

I'm not the judge and executioner but yea I guess that's cool. It's more about being stuck in line listening to someone blasting Imagine Dragons.

I've never seen it in person but when people leave their skis in the line before the chair opens up and go back to their cars.... I can't imagine

Seen this too many places. I don't get all bent out of shape for first chair but it is disrespectful nonetheless.

Visiting my local on a Friday night and all the highschool ski trips are there. It looks like a grenade went off in every landing and there’s kids going mach 10 down the hill with no idea how to stop. It’s actually terrifying at times

When I do the smallest most mundane air of my life and the sprinter van human yells "YEW" from the lift

This makes me think of one- when people yell super loud while shredding on a pow day. If you have to take a deep breath to yell out to let us all know how much fun you’re having, that’s annoying. I’m usually too busy giggling to myself or moaning in ecstasy cause that last slash was so soft to bother letting everyone else know how much fun I’m having.

Switch pizza is even worse, that shit deserves straight up red card

I'm sorry I get scared on the approach to the second jump so I swerve over to the knuckle instead

When it’s warm so I take off my outer layer but my pass is still in there, then I wait in line and only realize when I’m at the front that I have to skate all the way back to the lodge to get it

My biggest pet peeve is people who are angry on the mountain. You're there to have a good time, yet some people come to the resort with a long face and bitch. It is important to be kind on the mountain, always.

A smaller pet peeve I have - I don't know if anyone else experiences this - is when I'm bombing down a trail at high speed, some random mediocre skier will get "activated" and try to catch up with me. This especially happens when I'm skiing switch and overtaking. I don't mind this so much, but sometimes their out-of-control behavior puts me or other skiers in danger while I am just minding my own business and passing by.

before or after skiing, when i've got my ski pants but wearing shoes/boots and NO MATTER which method i use to roll the pant legs, they always droop down and drag on the ground or get under my heel

I’ve just accepted that my baggy pants will always get under my boot and in a year they will have crazy heel bite

i agree that it is somewhat inevitable but i've been rocking a bunch of old saga pants for ages and i'm really trying to take good care of them so they last.

People who shouldnt be in the park being in the park. I just finished writing a 2000 word essay for school on that and how having a small fee to be allowed into snowparks would stop a lot of that

I’m all for inclusiveness but I’d says 5% of people actually hit the features at Loveland yesterday when I went. Side hit city

honestly don't even think that would stop anything. "dad i want to go in the park!!" "ok billy just finish your 20$ french fries and then we'll pay the fee". gonna ski park for the first time on saturday, im going to feel so out of place and self conscious lol

of course with this scenario the smaller park is free and the main park isnt

ill stop from dumbass gapers from going in there if they have to wait in line again. Also the fee can go directly to funding park crew, in my opinion theres not much downsides to this

When people shove pivots up their ass in front of little children. Thats now ok. Should of back seated with tyrolias instead. Now timmy and millie are mentally scarred, but dad was able to score em a nice piece of cheese to share. Both are now happy again. Good job resort employees!

Dude it kills me how no one ever drops the bar in Colorado. My wife is scared of heights so I gotta have the damn conversation everytime. “Mind if we drop the bar?”. At this point, I wish I could just drop the bar like Europe or Aus/NZ.

14565635:Kundera said:
Surprisingly, something that never bothered me in Europe drives me crazy in Colorado. When people lower the bar on the chairlift without warning and it hits you violently in the head.

I expect it when there are kids around, but wait two seconds for us to sit down before you knock us out.

AIARE level 1 taught me the dangers of using pole straps. I had previously injured my wrists with them anyways so I just stopped using them. But if I take the straps off, I can’t easily grab my poles, hang them around my skis, etc. I have since learned way more people than I thought ski without using pole straps. Once you get used to it, there’s no going back
