Biggest Jumps you've hit & Snowbarders landing on your head

I didn't want to make two separate threads so I'm just combining both into one. The first being, what is the biggest jump you've ever hit? Skiing the Poconos in Pennsylvania, I don't get to experience very many big jumps but Big Boulder put together some burly fucking jumps for their Huck Yourself event last week. They are 45', 75' and 90' to the sweet spot and for someone that doesn't get out west, these looked massive to me. I ended up hitting all 3 yesterday - I was able to backflip the 45 footer, 360 the 75 footer (really sketchy) and I only tried straight airing the 90 footer which I ended up knuckling really fucking hard.

My first thought was Tanner Hall's "MY ANKLES ARE BROKEN" but after lying there for about 60 seconds (no one else on the mountain was hitting these) I skiied it off in considerable pain. I rode down the entire trail without speed checking once to hit that 90 footer I don't know how the fuck it is possible to clear that. The liftie said only 1 snowboarder was hitting it for the Huck Yourself event.

And on to the second part of the post, I fucking hate snowboarder dickheads that get right on your ass as when you are trying to hit a jump. I tried my first Flatspin 540 yesterday and ended up under rotating and faceplanted it. Lying face down I started scurrying myself off to the side of the jump but literally within 3-5 seconds of me landing a snowboarder stomped on my fucking head with his board. Luckily I was wearing a helmet and luckily I was laying face down so I didn't take anyone of it to the face but I gotta see a Doctor now because I am having vision problems. Here is the aftermath of the helmet. Fuck assholes that tailgate you on jumps and don't show a little courtesy and use common sense and make sure the landing is clear.

It sucks you got landed on but its not "snowboarders" as a groups fault. It very well could have been another skier. It all really comes down to that person being an idiot. The im a skier, snowboarders suck or im a snowboarder, skiers suck mind set is stupid. theres inconsiderate assholes in both.

good work sending the big guy though. I know how big jumps can be intimidating on the east coast as not many resorts have them. And when they do they arent up often so you dont get used to them.

I don't have anything against snowboarders in general, but anytime I see someone cutting someone else off for a jump, 9/10 times it is a snowboarder. This actually happened earlier in the day, a snowboarder cut me off in the jump line and I didn't slow down or alter my course I just sent it and threw my trick. He cut me off to fucking straight air the jump. When I got to the bottom I tapped him with my ski pole and said "Hey bro, you can't wait 5 extra seconds next time to throw a straight air? If you actually try throwing a trick and wash out and I land on your head it's not my problem." Then his boy gets in my face telling me not to "talk shit" when I am just trying to be safe on the mountain.

Lo and behold a few hours later I'm the one getting landed on. Anyway, thanks for the words. It took me a little liquid confidence and hitting the 75 footer a few times to get the courage to hit the 90 footer, and I only ended up hitting it one time since I knuckled it. I had fun on the 45 and 75 footers though -- there's nothing like the feeling of flying through the air like that and hitting it with enough speed to hit the sweet spot and ride it away.

I don't quite know if that's 90 ft...I remember looking at the 70 at Windells this year and that's about the same size. I give you mad props for hitting it though, the jump looks fucking gargantuan.

Props for the jump. However, yeah it's mostly boarders but please don't generalize it to JUST boarders. Skiers and boarders both do it alike. But, honestly, it's cause most douchebags are like "ahh dude boarding looks so #swag #yolo I will the illest at it dawg!" What I'm trying to say is most douche bags flock towards snowboarding.......just hate the PERSON doing it; not the sport/plank of whatever your riding.

Thanks man. Did you see anyone hitting it? I was kind of surprised/disappointed because Big Boulder has a rep for being a big park mountain and I saw plenty of people throwing down in Love and Freedom Park but nobody had the balls to venture over to the Big Boulder jumps. A couple people would ski down with me and watch but I didn't see a single person all day hit those jumps, not even the 45 footer.

Having said that, Love Park is really nice. I spent most of my day there.

that is a good deal smaller than a 75 footer...that is definitly a 90 footer though.

Doesnt look like a fun casing scenario. Get sendy Wendy!!

Biggest air is smaller than I'd like to admit. Maybe 35ish, any bigger and I feel like I'd just lose myself in the air. And I feel you on getting tailgated, I usually can guess what type of rider a person is before I drop, and if I think they'll tail me I just tell them to go ahead.

Who cares man at least you sent it! I think hitting anything that big and just straight airing it is impressive for the casual park skier. You need balls of steel to trick a 90 footer. I wouldn't have touched it if I was completely sober.

Maybe you've been to mountain creek? You can't fall on any feature, unless it's one of the urban rails or whatever, without getting run over by a train of snowboarders. And yes, snowboarders, cause they outnumber any other group on this hill by 100:1.

I tried to 270 out of this tube thing, but derped super hard and lost a ski when landing. And there was quite a few snowboarders right behind me. One kid landed off the tube and ollied my ski so I was like alright, cool. The other didn't touch the rail cause, well, the ramp in front of the rail is for jumping right? But I've been hit before cause I fall on something and people refuse to stop and wait their turn. Some of them don't even have enough common sense so not hit a rail if you fall right in the landing, and it would be hard to avoid you.

Parks get crowded. People follow to closely all the time in the park. I know I do. Its all part of the fun. Get over it.

Yah brah getting curb stomped because someone can't wait 5 seconds is all part of the fun. I bet you enjoy Russian roulette on the weekends too.

my hill had a 50' (i think it was) to sweet spot big air. it was really fun but they didnt keep it up for long. then they put up another jump that was 55' to sweet spot, and the landing was really long. i took it so far down just for fun. after about a week though the landing got really shitty and they never fixed it. i love getting big air. such a rush

I was there on sunday and couldn't believe the size of the jump. the video seriously does not do it justice until like the last second of the video. the only person i saw to hit any of them was a skier who straight aired the smallest one.

it was so far-fetcehd that anyone would hit the biggest one that i saw kids literally playing on it. they ran up it and just chilled on the little flat part on the lip watching people

i guess a 60 is da biggest ive hit... cork 5ed a 50 tho that shit was cray. i also caught edge setting cork 3 off a 45-50 er and accidently set myself into dub flat somehow and did 1.5 to ko

Dude brah I'll be back at big boulder next week but I agree the video doesn't do it justice it was honestly the biggest jump I've ever seen and not a single soul hit it. I know I'm not as technically sound as a lot of park skiiers but my balls feel rock solid hitting that jawn. I just wish my skill matched my balls. Prolly why I'm hitting MHSSC as a 26 year old for th first time this summer.

The largest jump I've hit was 70ish to knuckle on the Dew course a few years back...I overshot the thing a few times to near flat, but I don't have any idea what that equates to in terms of distance.

Props though for sending that big guy...it may be my 26 year old knees talking, but I'd never send anything in the 65+ range without seeing the speed via others sessioning the jump.

17 m table.

I cleanly took a 40ish footer real deep and my friends said I probably went 55 or 60 feet. I'd love to hit a huge jump.

At Mount Snow last week I was on a rail and as I was spinning off I looked back to see a snowboarder already on the same rail and he was going faster than I was. Needless to say he hit me but luckily no damage was done.

MFW I saw him behind me 622582.png

Yeah I only saw three guys straight air the smallest one while I was on the chair lift. The mountain was also pretty empty when I was there. I bet if it was more crowded there would be more people hitting it. And yeah we spent almost the whole time in Love and Freedom Parks cuz some of their set ups were pretty sweet.

biggest jump at my hill is 30 feet at most, i cant even imagine looking at that 90 in person.

also I usually don't have a problem with snowboarders but there's that small percent of the population that makes you hate them all

for instance a few weeks ago i was night skiing with my school and i was standing in the lift line behind 2 snow boarders (there were maybe 15 other people in line) and i saw 2 of my friends standing ahead of them so i ducked out of line to go around the snowboarders to join them (the snowboarders made no move to do so, they were going to go up on their own) i go around and join my friends and then i hear "HEY KID" i turn around and one of the snowboarder who i see is standing sideways so his board goes across the whole line is yelling at me and he says "IF YOU FUCKING STEP ON MY BOARD AGAIN I'M GOING TO BEAT THE FUCKING SHIT OUT OF YOU DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" I replied with "I didn't step on your board man" and he shouted back "YOU STEPPED ON MY BOARD AND THEN CUT INFRONT OF US, GET BACK THERE AND IF YOU TOUCH MY BOARD AGAIN I WILL KICK THE SHIT OUT OF YOU INFRONT OF ALL YOUR FUCKING FRIENDS, HOW COOL WILL YOU BE THEN?" i just said i was sorry then went back because the guy was about a foot and half taller than me and in his mid 20s

I'm not sure but i think he over reacted.

tl;dr accidentally stepped on a snowboarder's board and he told me he was going to beat the shit out of me in front of everyone in line.

So are the jumps still up leading into the side cut classic snow pipe? I'm worried if conditions deteriorate and the jumps melt a little bit it's gonna be knuckle city on anyone trying to hit the 75 and 90 footer.

Yea. The 75ft lip looks like a quarterpipe though.

I give you massive props for hitting the big one. Looking at it is just scary.

haha yea man its never too late to really get into it. and i had trouble understanding exactly what you meant, did you say you would hit it or you actually did?
