I’m guessing some of you have seen or will start to see this video. This dude I had never heard of, Jordane Legal, sents the biggest most fucked thing I’ve like ever seen. Seems homie has done some crazy sketchy sends in the past but this is something else. Dude is sick in the head how is he okay and what in the actual fuck was the goal. Shit is so insane.

Saw a vid of some racer guy shoot off a roller at 71 or 72, he was a good 150 feet away from his stuff when he stopped moving

I can understand the drive to send it super huge.

However, it's so unusual to me - people who film and post these kinda stunts to get noticed but then not really post any pictures of their face/family/hometown.

Faceless skiers out there on IG going huge, but we don't recognize them or remember their stunts cuz we don't know what they look like or any information about them. Especially if they aren't joining in on the conversation.

But what's the sweet spot tho? Cuz too much shameless self promoting and influencer attention seeking is whack.

Im not hating on the guy or the send. i respect that he has the determination/nuts to do it. kudos.

ski jumping also has really big jumps and no one goes bonkers over it. literally the only thing that's appealing about this is the danger factor.

i still dont know exactly why i dont like seeing this stuff going viral (my gut reaction), but i think its because:

it desensitizes us to what actually good skiing is and pushes expectations to an unrealistic level. free ride and big mountain has always sort of been a dick swinging comp about hucking the biggest cliff, boosting the biggest air much like park is spin to win. im just not a fan of it. idk.

it was a hail mary. rolling down the windows, lost a pole, lost his goggles. not saying i can do bigger or better. like i said, i respect the send, but it was only that. its only skiing because he has skis on. just pointing out that (to me), it seems like there was little to no intent on landing it. it just happened. that's the shot he went with. this is how skiing is being showcased to the world and i think there's a lot more to it than surfing the biggest possible wave. when i see there is so much hype about it, i get upset. there's hotter shit out there that should be getting more publicity. stuff thats actually pushing skiing into new directions, making it more fun.

i mean you can like or dislike it but saying it's not a showcase of skill/good skiing is just wrong. go watch a bunch of huge airs and cliff drops, it's difficult to even stay upright when you're in the air half that long

there's luck involved but the reason he landed on his feet, never mind rode away, is because he is an extremely skilled skier. putting that to bolts is only possible with super good fundamentals, a lesser skier would have hot-tubbed that at best

I just don’t like how that’s the thing that gets people going.

once again ski jumpers do just as much if not more airtime. I guess since it’s in a controlled calculated and safe environment, it doesn’t create the same buzz.

my thoughts on fis frenchy purist race-ists have nothing to do with this conversation. my ski jumping reference is just to show thats its not the size of the jump that matters in this case.

after some more thought, its cool for jordy to get the exposure hes deserved. it just sucks that he has to put his body and life on the line for people to finally recognize him as a good skier.

like i also have mixed feelings about the ~100ft utah back country gaps. on one hand, yea they are legendary, but on the other is that all being a good skier boils down to? doing dangerous shit and going as big as humanely possible? i would say no. therefore it leaves a bad taste when putting your life on the line is one of the only ways to get that much exposure.

its a fucked up world we live in.
