Last year my skis delaminated. I had bought the Armada El Rey skis and they fell apart towards the end of the season. I sent them to armada and told them my problem and they replaced them. They recognized that the skis should have held together longer and realized it must be flaw in the ski. I now have brand new skis. Go Armada!
 
Armada can go die!!!! they have great customer service and some of the best skis out there but this lawsuit thing is garbage. they are potentially gonna halt ski making progression by making them the only people who own rocker technology. Greedy money whores but great skis
 
i think nobody owns rocker. nobody owns camber or sidecut, or tips and tails. and therefore, nobody should own a combination of camber and rocker.
 
They're not suing over the use of rocker, it's the 5-dimension shape of the skis which both Armada and Rossi use in their BC skis.

If you look at the patent that someone posted a link to in one of the main lawsuit threads (awesome find btw), you can see how they both claim a copyright to it.

And the ignorance in this thread just reeks of the worst fecal matter ever. I cannot explain to you guys how often companies "sue" each other for patent/copyright infringement and how often the lawsuits are carried out to the fullest. It happens EVERY SINGLE DAY. Most of these lawsuits end up going nowhere....which is where this one will go or they will settle on some alternate description which doesn't infringe on either patent.

To say Armada is "taking down" the ski industry is ridiculous and completely ignorant. Furthermore, to say this lawsuit is going to make skis more expensive is also ridiculous. This lawsuit has nothing to do with the ski industry's supply and demand curve! Armada isn't going to go sell skis for $1000 a pair because it's smarter to sell 10,000 pairs at $650 than it is to sell 1,000 parts at $1,000. It's ECON101. People can only pay what they are BOTH willing and able to pay.

Also, do you think people are going to just shell out an infinite amount of cash for skis? Haven't we already seen that snowsports are pushing the limits of what people are willing to pay? I know Squaw has....

Get a grip kiddies, calm down, and go buy your favorite Armada ski. Maybe when you graduate middle school this will make more sense to you.
 
i know it wont go through. that isnt the point. the point is that they are some greedy money whores that if this does go through could be pretty bad. and it is more the dick move that we are mad at
 
I was hoping this thread would be about Armada stopping the lawsuit, and being legit again...
I love their skis, and loved the company, but suing another ski company over something like this is bullshit. How can the ski industry and ski design advance if companies are worried about being sued for a similar design to another company? What if the first company with parabolic sidecut sued the next companies that did it? If enough companies use the 5 point sidecut, I feel like chances are higher that some new crazy design will be developed.

I do think my ar6s are some of the best skis I've ridden though...
 
I really don't see why Armada's worried about companies using that design. Even if they give it the sidecut/camber they're trying to patent, they still can't match the technology/design that gives them the reputation for quality, and usually long lasting skis. So far only Atomic has successfully made something that could be considered an exact copy (the Bent Chetler, sorry to say, but they even used the same materials/engineering in that they used in the JJ, kinda bullshit) but they still shouldn't get all pissed off about it.I kind of have a hard time also trying to picutre Jp, Tanner, Julien, and Tyson all sitting around being like "let's sue these fuckers". I bet it was one of their jackass lawyers, they're always trying to sue people.And I'm sorry about your El Reys, I have 08 Jp vs Juliens that I've had since they came out, and they've been on every surface imaginable and I'm ready to ride em again this season. In fact, all my skis are Armada; 09 ARG, '11 JJ, and 08 JpvsJulien. I hope who ever did this pulls their head out of their ass because Armada is one company I've never heard anything bad about till now.
 
Atomic presses Armada's skis, so it's no surprise the bent'chetler is so similar.

And to those defending Armada's right to sue (or file a cease and desist order), or saying that this happens all the time in business, well....no shit. Of course it happens all the time, lots of time nothing comes from it, and of course they have the right to do so if they think one of their patents has been violated. BUT, this isn't about that. It's like the Ground Zero Mosque thing. Of course they are allowed to built it there, no one should be arguing against that (although many are), but SHOULD they build it? No! Should Armada sue Rossignol for a ski that is similar to their design, a design which they directly copied from another company (just made it smaller)? Of course not. It's total bullshit. And it is much more worrying to those companies that probably can't afford lawyers, companies like ON3P, Moment, PM Gear, possibly DPS, and many others.

Bottom line is, of course Armada can sue or try and sue for this, but they are a bunch of assholes for doing so.
